Bio
Don has been playing music since he was 8 years old. He has been fortunate enough to work with the greatest artists on the planet. After graduating from Berklee College of Music he immediately left to go on the road with James Taylor. He followed that with nine years as a studio musician in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where he recorded literally hundreds of records for artists such as Antonio Carlos Jobim, Gilberto Gil, Gal Costa, Djavan, Roberto Carlos, and Elis Regina. He followed that with a year in Rome, Italy where he performed and traveled through Europe. Upon returning home to New York he landed the gig as lead trumpet player and featured soloist with legendary soul band Tower of Power, and subsequently moved on to become the Musical Director for Mary Wilson of The Supremes. Through it all it has been an adventure! He has traveled the world and performed in almost every corner of the Earth. Currently you can find him touring with Jeff Golub, Warren Hill, or Kirk Whalum or in the studio writing, arranging, performing or producing various artists around the New York City area. Some of the new projects that he is involved with include performing and arranging the smash number one hit of Mister Magic for English guitar wiz Peter White, five new tracks on the upcoming CD by Eran James (a fantastic new 17year old Australian singer produced by Nora Jones’ producer Jay Newland), as well as five arrangements and recording for the new Donny Osmund CD along with full production on the soon to be released disk by the brand new band Market Zero. He recently finished writing and recording two new arrangements for John Tropea’s latest release with Steve Gadd, Will Lee, and Leon Pendarvis, and Chris Palmero, and even more recently completed the writing and recording for two tunes on the smokin' new disk by young NYC based phenom Nathaniel Nunziante. Watch for them all soon! .. .. .. .. .. .. -

Influences
Life in Brazil was a huge influence on me -- It changed my outlook on life and my attitude and perspective towards it! Then come all the great trumpet players from whom I learned so much -- From Miles Davis and Louis Armstrong to Clifford Brown, Randy Brecker Freddie Hubbard, and Tiger Okoshi and of course the amazing Mic Gillette and Tower of Power, but also I am influenced and humbled by all those that I have had the honor of working along side of such as James Taylor, Rob Mathes, Michael McDonald, Brenda Russell, Bobby Caldwell, Destiny's Child, The Supremes, Celine Dion, Robbie Dupree, Michael Bolton, Ben E. King, Sam Moore, Rufus Thomas, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Jeff Golub, Warren Hill, Kirk Whalum, The Rippingtons, Jonathan Buttler, Rick Braun, Spyro Gyra, John Tropea, Hiram Bullock, Kal David, Mike Finnigan, Ronnie Foster, Roger Ball, Chet Baker, Wynton and Branford Marsalis , Jack DeJohnette, and Phil Woods . In the immortal words of Duke Ellington: there ain't but two kinds of music -- good music and bad music! -
