Houston (Harris County) is the #1 emitter of greenhouse gases in the country. The U.S. has the highest per capita emissions. We have a responsibility to people around the world and all future generations to resist locally - and now!
At least 150,000 people already die each year from climate change, from the emissions already released into the atmosphere. Pause and consider this. Worldwide emissions continue to grow each year, not decline. At least 1/3 of the species on earth are heading for extinction if we do not transition to zero emissions and at least be well down that path in less than a decade - what are you waiting for?

If you are an activist and think there are too many other pressing issues to work on, imagine the social problems people will be facing just decades from now in a climate-ravaged world. Image how the problems you are working on will be compounded by worldwide water shortage, agricultural failure/famine, unprecedented climate refugee migrations, new resource wars, increased risk and spread of disease, more frequent and powerful natural disasters, rising sea levels..the list goes on. Or imagine being one of those 150,000 today.
