About me: It has been a great year, our local team elected both Rep. Scott Randolph in the November 2006 election and Rep. Darren Soto in a special election at the end of April 2007. It meant walking every Saturday for over a year, but it was worth it.
Saw both Rep. Randolph and Rep. Soto at the special session of the Florida Legislature just ended (mid-June 2007). Rep. Soto helped me find a key budget hearing and Rep. Randolph got me in the Democratic legislative caucus immediately before the Wednesday evening session of the Florida House.
As a result of the session, January 29, 2008 in addition to being the Florida Presidential Primary will have a huge State of Florida property tax question as well -- asking voters if they want to change from "Save our Homes" and a $25,000 homestead property exemption to a new "Super Exemption" (see blog post "Report from Tallahassee").
Elected "Board Member at Large" of the Orange County, Florida Democratic Party at the December 2006 organizational meeting (under state law the organization is officially called the "Orange County Democratic Executive Committee" or OCDEC). DISCLAIMER -- WHEN ACTING AS A DEC OFFICER, I AM NEUTRAL AMONG DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATES. I do have personal opinions, as a minority of one, and they are posted here.
Francesca Battistelli is an Orlando area musician with talent that will take her far. UPDATE: I have added Francesca's song "Most" to the JBCallahan profile Listen to a few of her other songs (for free) at:
Some of the sites have links where you can buy her first CD. BTW, Francesca's middle initial is "A" so she is "FAB."
Who I'd like to meet: Barack Obama, John Edwards, Hillary & Bill Clinton, Jeffrey Sachs (Economist), Miguel De Icaza (open source software developer), Ray Fair (Economist), Brian Ripley (Statistician) & Jimmy Carter...
