JL formerly known as ‘JR’ is an up and coming rap artist, born and raised in Shepherds Bush, West London. The name ‘JL’ is a combination of his first name, Jordan, and his home city London, England. The name was given to him during his first collaboration overseas. He was ‘Jordan, from London’ and the name just stuck with him. Many new age hip hop artists like JL are heavily influenced and inspired by many old school hip hop icons such as; Big Pun, Wu Tang Clan, Nas and Big L as well as new school hip hop iconic talent like; Fabolous, Cassidy, and Lil’ Wayne. At the young age of 13 while most kids are sitting at home watching television, JL began to bless the mic at house parties, school talent shows as well as a popular London radio station, Blaze Image FM. JL and a few friends from school cre ated a hip hop team called LIC: Lethal Injection Crew. Unfortunately the crew broke up after two years and went their separate ways. When the crew split, JL put his love for music on hold to focus on other things that were going on in his life. When JL returned to the prospect of music, he used his already discovered talent to MC and focused primarily on hip hop music as he began to rap. Shortly after JL’s comeback, his true talent and potential to become one of the best began to surface. JL began to work with one of his main producers, G.I. and started a project called ‘Diamond In The Ruff’. Diamond In the Ruff can be found all over the internet with numerous videos, mix tapes and live shows. JL’s other main artists include Angel, 40Winkz! and Culan. JL loves to support and visit music showcases and has won many open mic competitions at I LUV LIVE with; Ras Kwami, Little Man and Twin B. JL has toured and worked alongside artists from America to Germany. Currently JL is recognized as a slick cipher punch line rapper. He loves to explore many different styles and techniques with his music. Because of his many talents, hard work and dedication, he is destined to do well in the hip hop music industry. Just as JL says, “there is no such word as I can’t!”JL can be found on twitter, YouTube, MySpace and Reverbnation. -
