My government name is Jennifer Lynn. I am from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I have lived here my entire life. Growing up as a child was great, compared to this adulthood life. What else can a person compare their childhood too besides the present. By the time you actually understand the meaning of childhood, time has passed and you are all grown up.So here I am; all grown up. And along that childhood somewhere I developed an extreme love and interest for music, particularly rap and hip hop. I choose to write and record music because I have a passion for it. I am different, but that’s nothing special because we all are individuals. I express my individuality through lyrics. I am not a composer. I am not a rapper. I am an artist of lyrical expression. Music means a lot to me; therefore, my music has meaning.
Every song I put together, every rap I write, every melody I sing has a message and a meaning behind it. Some of my songs might mean the world to you, and some might not mean anything. The common denominator is that it means; therefore I have developed a relation to you through my music. So with that said first things first.
I keep my music real. My life isn’t a joke, so why would my music be? Granted I love to have fun, and music is fun to me. But my music comes from a very real and true place, my heart. So now it’s not just a hobby filled with words, but rather emotion and feeling. That’s how I, the artist, connect to you, the listener. And that’s why when you are listening to a song, you say “I’m Feelin This.”
So what started out as a passion and hobby has now become a potential career path for me. One reason being so because I don’t exist yet in the industry. I am a white female with mad skill. Not too many of those around in the hip hop community. Another is because I'm going to be doing music regardless, so if it’s good enough that people enjoy listening to it over and over again why wouldn‘t I want paid?
I write and produce all of my own lyrics and vocals. I have been recording since September 2005. Every day I master my craft and I dedicate myself to work on music as often as possible. I mainly record in the studio that I have and I also record with my boy JKeyz(Rottweiler Recordz). Studio time is usually me time; solo time, unless someone is here to collab w/ me. I get beats from all over, some I co-produce with JKeyz. I am usually picky about the beats I use but most instrumentalists that I work with are consistent with what they do; I have my favorites, so I will come to you if I like what you do. I have completed a lot of songs. A lot. Majority ya’ll have never heard, they were just practice to me; I am a perfectionist with this.
Since then, I have collabed with other artists locally, nationally, and internationally thanks to the internet. In August 2007 i tried out for VH1’s female rapper show. They had auditions in major cities all over the country, but I tried out through the mail, sent 3 songs and a 5 minute DVD. And I was chosen in the top 50 out of over 15,000 girls across the country that tried out. I was all ready to go to L.A. then 3 days prior they cut it down to 30. I was not chosen, but everyone has their time and GOD must have a bigger plan for me.
In January 2008 and January 2009 I was nominated for Best Female Artist at the Pittsburgh Hip Hop Awards, which was great because it was local recognition. I started doing shows in 2008 around Pittsburgh to get some more exposure--Please check back often to see the schedule. I do have pictures and videos posted on this page if you didn't make it. Last year I put out my first official CD titled The Bottom Up, loaded with 21 tracks, only $7 at TimeBomb Spot in East Liberty. I am currently working on my debut album that will be released in 2009. A possible title for the album may be INTROSPECTION. I don't have an exact date for release yet but I will keep this updated.
