When Ja’Maal Buster holds a woman’s face in his hands and looks into her eyes – his goal is to make her look and feel a little more beautiful. An expert in false eyelash application, Buster doesn’t just add fullness and length to lashes, his specialty is custom tailoring each set of lashes to best enhance the unique features of a woman’s face.
“Anyone can out on store-bought false eyelashes,” he explains. “My goal is to create art for the eyes. I truly take the time to look at the shape of a woman’s face and eyes, and create a look that radiates beauty.” Buster, who has been perfecting his art for 6 years, takes this same thoughtful approach whether he is applying faux lashes for a woman to wear every day, or giving a model party lashes for a runway show.
Ja’Maal Buster knew he was destined for things greater than his tiny East Texas town could offer him. After years of dreaming of what was to come, he packed his belongings and answered the call of the big city…Dallas! Though only a few hours away from his hometown, this Metropolis offered the finest in fashion, the arts and music, it was there he began turning his dreams into reality one lash at a time. Ja’Maal was first introduced to eye lash artistry or a visit to Detroit. He and a friend were so taken with the process they decide to teach themselves the technique. In and began preparing false eyelashes for fashion photo shoots and close friends. As it goes with most well kept secrets, they have a tendency to get out. It wasn’t long before the word of mouth about Ja’Maal’s “Fabulous” lashes started to spread and his appointment book began filling up. In a year’s time, he went from being the assistant store manager of Dolce & Gabbana to opening his first Fabulous Lashes locations which grew to become one of the most popular false eyelash businesses in the country.
He now lives in Los Angeles. Ja’Maal’s client case is a who’s who of fashion icons, so socialites, philanthropists and celebrities, which keeps him traveling between Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta, Miami and New York. Ja’Maal and his work have been viewed in worldwide fashion publications and film occupations such as: WWD, W.
