I have been collecting records properly since about 1993 (Out of Space by The Prodigy was the first tune I bought). As far as hardcore is concerned, hearing Stu Allan .. 103 Manchester playing things like Dyewitness, Hocus Pocus, Bass X and early Mokum and Ruffneck stuff. He was the first DJ whose tune selection and mixing style I tried to emulate.
