"QUOTES ABOUT JEFF & SARAH... "Jeff and Sarah are great artists and great people.......Their music rings true....That's all you need to know about these folks." LLOYD MAINES, Grammy Award Winning Producer, Dixie Chicks ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "This music is pure & wonderful Americana......The mountains, and the people who make up their culture are beatifically sculpted into words by Jeff and Sarah. Listen to life from their perspective. It'll reach down and grab ya!.......I know it did me." LARRY CORDLE, Writer, "Murder On Music Row", "Highway 40 Blues", and many others... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jeff Barbra and Sarah Pirkle have been married (to each other!) for 9 years, and make their home in Walland, TN in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains national park. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PERFORMERS... Jeff & Sarah play original acoustic music seasoned with flavors of American roots music: bluegrass, classic country, old-time, and folk. With Jeff on guitar and mandolin and Sarah on fiddle, this married duo from the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee combine experienced voices with solid musicianship to create new sound with an old fashioned twist. Their independent debut album "Dog Years", was released regionally on March 25, 2000. Two singles from the album, "The Piney Rose" and "When I Come Home" were released nationally in 2001. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sarah and Jeff's latest album, "The Barb Hollow Sessions" was released on January 1, 2004 and received rave reviews around the country... The album debuted at .. 6 on the Roots Music Report National Bluegrass Airplay Charts. The single, "Bury Me In The Red Clay" peaked at .. 12 on the Bluegrass Unlimited National Bluegrass Chart for November 2004. It was on the charts for 8 months... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SONGWRITERS... Jeff and Sarah are 1st PLACE WINNERS of the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest at MERLEFEST. They performed their winning song, "When I Come Home" at Merlefest for a crowd of 50,000+. Established recording artists are now taking notice of their songwriting talents. Artists like Terri Hendrix & Lloyd Maines, John Starling, Charlie Sizemore, Jay Clark, Laura Walker, Eric Lewis and Andy Ratliff, Blue Moon Rising, Gary Ferguson and Sally Love, Rickie Simpkins, Dale Anne Bradley, Carrie Hassler, Darrell Webb, Ernie Thacker, and others have cut their songs. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jeff and Sarah also wrote the score to the original play, "Measured In Labor, The Coal Creek Project" for the Actor's CO-Op In Knoxville, TN in 2004. Jeff and Sarah toured with the company and played their original music live with the play, both in Knoxville and on the road tour. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Both have been creating their own tunes since they were children. Recently Sarah discovered a long lost recording of her at age 5, where she made up a song on the spot! Jeff believes he started his songwriting journey began as an early teen when he was inspired by the songs of James Taylor and Merle Haggard. Writing was a hobby that Jeff and Sarah had in common and explored together when they began dating. A lot of those first dates were gigs! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ON THE RADIO... (Hi - just enjoyed my visit.)

After you've finished here, you may like to hear this folk-carol sung on myspace...

# 230, walkaboutsverse. 741. com: CHRISTMAS SUNG SIMPLY

As gospellers have said,
Beneath signalling skies,
On land dusty to tread,
A trough in a stable
Was the strawy first-bed
Of a divine baby -
The forgiving Godhead.

A season for new hope -
There then and here now;
The yuletide of goodwill -
There then and here now.

In respect of this chance,
Beneath bright or dark skies,
Faith’s the star that we glance
Attending Christ’s churches
And trying to enhance,
With singing and ritual,
Our God-loving stance.

A...
