Jim Dorian, vocalist/front-man extraordinaire, started performing and entertaining at the young age of 7-years old. One of Jim’s earliest bands, Masquerade, a staple on the regional Buffalo music scene where Jim was born and raised, was considered by local music publications and radio, as the Best Hard Rock Band in the area. Relocating to Florida in 1992 it was not long before Jim’s professionalism, five-octave range and commanding stage presence caught the attention of many industry veterans. Steve Lynch (Autograph) selected Jim to sing on his demos for a new project, and he was also hired to co-write and recorded a demo with the melodic rock band Teer. Jim received international exposure with the band Tidal Force, whose release “A Man Rides Through” was played at radio stations nationwide. The video, a well produced mini-movie depicting the story line and starring a top Hollywood character actor, was very well reviewed and was aired domestically. The video can be viewed at the "view my" videos button above. Tidal Force performed at the 1994 NAMM Conference in Anaheim, CA to a extremely receptive crowd at the Gibson Guitar booth alongside industry luminaries such as Joe Walsh, Jeff Skunk Baxter (The Doobie Brothers) and Terry Bozzio (Missing Persons). In 1996, Jim formed and toured regionally with Incite, which included former members of the international metal act Iced Earth. In 1997, Jim recorded the full length album “Monarch” a Brunette-Alfa/Now and Then Records release with guitar virtuoso Ralph Santolla, who is currently in the Sebastian Bach Band. This CD was distributed throughout Asia and Europe. In 1998 Jim began co-writing with guitarist Jim Studnicki forming the band Anomaly, and recording a full length, self-titled CD, featuring the world class rhythm section of Sean Malone and Sean Reinert. http://www.cynicalsphere.com/rev_anomaly.html The release received rave reviews worldwide at the time, and is still gaining momentum with new fans. Jim flew to Copenhagen in 1999 when internationally renowned Danish rock act, Royal Hunt, selected Jim as one of only four finalists from around the world to audition for the vacated lead-singer position. Business decisions being as they are, the band opted for a well known singer as their new hire, however, they made it very clear that Jim was the best contender for the job and would readily work with him on future projects. In 2001, David Chastain and his label, Leviathan Records, offered Jim his choice of metal acts on the roster in need of front men. Although all bands had tremendous talent and potential, none were a perfect fit for Jim’s melodic singing style. During the span of 2003-2005, Jim performed multiple shows, showcases and guest spots with an array of diverse musical groups and orchestras covering some of the most highly acclaimed rock vocalists of the era; Robert Plant ( Led Zeppelin), Geoff Tate (Queensryche), Steve Perry (Journey) and many more. In 2005, Jim started writing and working with guitarist Tom McDyne, who has toured with Circle to Circle and is a current member of Jon Oliva’s Pain, forming Dorian, a straight on rock band featuring melodic guitar riffs and melodic, strong vocals. The band filmed a video for their first single, “Siren’s Scream” gaining the band accolades worldwide. The video can be viewed at this link: www.myspace.com/JimDorianMusic In 2006 Jim and Tom started collaborating with keyboard player Dan ‘Doc’ Fasciano thus creating the writing and production force behind a new rock act, Doctrine. Fasciano’s long time friend Jon Oliva (Savatage, TSO, JOP) had taken an interest in the project and brought it to the attention of multi-platinum producer/ songwriter Paul O’Neill (Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Aerosmith). Paul O’Neill expressed a great interest not only in Doctrine but in Jim’s vocal style and stage presence. Both Paul and his co-writer, Robert Kinkel have selected Jim on a short list for upcoming TSO related productions. Doctrine’s debut album will be produced by Jon Oliva and will feature guest vocals by Jon as well as other select special guests. The album will be released world-wide in 2009 with tour plans to follow.
