Jo Beverley here, historical romance author and Cabbage Patch Kid fan.
I've had 30 novels published with one more zooming toward shelves now (June 2007.)
I was born in Morecambe, Lancashire; went to Layton Hill Convent in Blackpool for secondary education; and Keele University in Staffordshire for a degree in History and American Studies. So I suppose it was fate that I write historical novels set in England that are mostly read by Americans!
Oh, and CBKs? We acquired one by accident in 1983 and Charlie's been in charge around here every since. You can see he had to be at my son's wedding, dressed like the groomsmen.
At his insistence, we found a few more bald #3 heads and if there are any of those in need of rescue, he'll take them under his wing, especially if they're in rough shape.
I use him and the rest as my figurehead on the Word Wenches blog. You might like this one of Little Billy (he's a preemie) with his dragon protector.
You can see it here at the end of Dragon Month here Click on the picture to enlarge.
Yes, I have written about dragons. And Faery. And strange amorphous aliens...
Jo :)
Because I'm busy writing, I'll mostly only be able to pop in here a few times a week and probably won't be able to respond to all messages, but I always enjoy talking to people who like historical romance, especially that set in England and reasonably accurate.
I'll be pleased to hear from other CBK fans as well, or anyone who sees a connection. It's a small world, after all.
Now you have the tune in your head, don't you?*G*

Mothers and daughters; what greater love can one find, than the love a mother gives.
I am blessed to have had a truly WONDERFUL mother and grandmother. My memories of growing up are ‘truly special,’ as my mother and I had such a close relationship.
I remember, even as a small child, always looking into my mother’s eyes and seeing unconditional love. I knew if I was in her arms, or just talked to her, all my fears and pain would fade away…like a ‘magical potion’ had erased any hurt the world could give.
I always thought my mother was the ‘most beautiful’ woman I have ‘ever’ known, both inside and out.
My mother was a wonderful artist, and we spent many hours sitting and drawing together, even when I was an adult. We could talk about everything and anything…as we shared in a ‘VERY SPECIAL BOND,’ as understood one another.
The words of wisdom she imparted have remained with me to this day. For she ‘always’ advised me what she ‘knew’ to be best, as no one has ever known me as well.
TODAY is a day to celebrate mothers…so if you are far away, or if you had an arguments, don’t let that keep you from doing something ‘special’ for her, as the time you have with her is short…and you may never get another opportunity to tell her, “HOW MUCH YOU LOVE HER!”
My mother passed away 23 years ago…and I wish today, I could tell her just HOW MUCH LOVE I will ALWAYS hold in my heart for her….
GO CELEBRATE MOTHERS TODAY….
HUGS,
Mary

I’m giving away 2 romantic adventure books to one winner--a historical and a time travel either in ebook pdf format or trade paperback. (if outside the continental US, winner gets pdf copies) The historical is a 2009 Eppie Winner.
Good luck if you decide to enter.
Best,
Linda
