About me:
Joe & Kate is based on the real life relationship of Joe Kelly and Kate Purdy - two semi-adults who are learning what it means to navigate the space between dating and marriage.
Joe Kelly started out performing improv in his hometown of Atlanta. From there he moved to Chicago where he joined iO and Second City theaters. He later joined the cast of Boom Chicago in Amsterdam, and then was hired to write for Saturday Night Live. He currently writes for the show “How I Met Your Mother.” You may also recognize him as the catcher from Major League III.
Kate Purdy is a writer/performer at iO West and UCB theaters in Los Angeles. Her short film “Teenage Baby,” about a baby in high school, was recently in the SF Sketch festival. She hosts a monthly show at iO West titled “Who’s Crazy” where couples present their arguments. She also wrote for the TV show Cold Case, was one of the founders of Unitedhollywood.com during the writer’s strike, and currently writes for MadTV.
