Peace and Blessings everyone, I am writing to tell you about an amazing show coming to Pittsburgh on Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008. Climbing Poetree, a dynamic soul sister duo of spoken word artists is on a national tour with their show "Hurricane Season: The Hidden Messages in Water" a post Katrina performance uprising! We have been trying to get the word to all members of the community because this will be a bridge building opportunity. It's been 3 years folks and we have not forgotten!
Three local organizations that have been committed to activism and ending oppression for all people will be featured during the Solution Cipher at the end of the show. Please come and support: Sankofa Community Empowerment, New Voices Pittsburgh and Human Rights Coalition- Fed Up! Chapter.
Through a tapestry of spoken-word poetry, video projection, dance, shadow art, and a sound collage of personal testimonies, Hurricane Season connects the issues that surfaced in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina to the "unnatural disasters" our communities are experiencing nationwide and worldwide on a daily basis.
Join us on Tuesday September 2nd, at the Greybox Theatre 3595 Butler Street in Lawrenceville for this soul stirring performance! Doors open at 6:30 pm and close at 7:15 pm. Tickets are $8-$20 sliding scale at the door. Also if you do want to buy tickets in advance they are $15. This show will sell out so please purchase tickets in advance.
