Julianne’s music is unique as it expresses how she really is as an artist and as a person -- honest and sincere. Her songs speak from the heart and soul. Amidst all the hype of bands and bossa, she is the artist that will fill the void and set a new trend in Philippine music. Julianne is not your usual songstress. Her far-from-typical groove and charisma never cease to wow her audience. She has been singing way before she could actually talk. Being exposed to music at a very early age, innately it has always been a passion of hers, music. She devoted most of her life unfolding as a musician and songwriter and now, her music has evolved into her own.
Juliannes’ groove and charisma are far from typical but even when she renders her obscure jazzy repertoire, non-jazz but genuine audiophiles never fail to be wowed. Baring one’s soul is but a trite description of any performer but in Juliannes’ case, it essentially captures her moments onstage.
In 2007, MCA Music set itself to launch a new OPM artist who will take things to another level and introduce a brand of music that’s different from the usual fare that we are used to hearing in radio. And MCA did exactly that by releasing the debut album by newcomer Julianne entitled “Grateful,” featuring the certified hit single “Tulak Ng Bibig,” which is currently hitting different radio charts nationwide.
Her music is a mix of different musical genres and influences; a hybrid of acoustic pop, folk, R & B, jazz and neo-soul. Her album is comprised of nine tracks Julianne wrote herself plus stripped down renditions of “Tulak Ng Bibig” and the title track “Grateful.” Majority of the album was produced by veteran R & B artist and Freestyle member Mike Luis while two standout tracks (“Unsaid” and “Healing”) were produced by Dan Gil of Chillitees. Veteran musicians Mark Escueta, Rommel dela Cruz, Wendell Garcia, Sach Castillo, Daniel Crisologo and Dexter Aguila, among many others contributed their talents to this album. Other favorites in the album include “Empty Chairs,” “Thank You,” “Queen in Me,” “Choose to Believe” and the title track.
Julianne has Indie Arie, Jewel, Jill Scott, James Taylor and The Beatles among her musical influences. But her biggest musical influence is probably from within her family. Her dad is a pianist, guitarist and a composer/music arranger himself while her Mom and two brothers are also into music. Their unwavering support is Julianne’s strength and inspiration to do her best in her chosen craft.
She started out in the music biz with different bands and acoustic groups before realizing that she had written promising material on her own as inspired by her dreams and experiences. Currently, she is busy promoting her album “Grateful” around the metro.
Since launching her debut album, she has quickly turned as musical artist’s artist, a real favorite among her peers in the music industry and is now known as the country’s OPM SOULCHILD.
Mark Escueta of Rivermaya says, “From the minute I first heard her songs, alam ko na soon enough she’ll be having her own album, her own hits. She’s the first of her kind.”
Dan Gil of Chillitees, who also produced a couple of tracks in her album says, “When I heard her perform I was really floored. This girl’s real talented.”
Former Smokey Mountain member Jeffrey Hidalgo says, ”What people like most about Julianne is that when she performs you can really feel her words coming from here (clutches chest) – coming straight from the heart.”
Ebe Dancel of Sugarfree relates that, “I first met Julianne last year in a gig. I was really, really blown away and I’ve been a fan of her ever since. When her album first came out, I bought my own copy agad, Until now I play her songs over and over again on my I-pod.”
Cynthia Alexander says, “I like her rhythm. You know, lots of artists come and go but I’ve seen her strengthen steadfastly and I know for certain she’s going to last.”

The celestial fireballs come from the Great Nothing, light, parade and quickly disappear in the immensity where even our small life lights, runs and quickly disappears.
