I like electronic stuff, little interesting machines. Most of my toys are small shiny boxes. It's fun to help other people figure out how technology functions. I'm well suited to my work, I guess.
I'm an Amateur Extra class radio operator. The end part of the url for this page is my callsign, KB3JA. The hobby holds my interest, especially developing skills and mentoring others in the field of emergency communications supporting local governments and non-governmental organizations (NGO) -- I've been a "ham" for about the last thirty years or so. Some of my kind have huge "antenna farms" or tall towers growing out of their backyards, but not me. I mostly have wires, radios and assorted junk draped all over the car, and I let it go at that...except for the handie-talkie on my belt. That, and the cell phone. And a scanner. And a camera. You know, just in case there's a "situation." Yeah, well.Everything you can stand to know about York County PA public safety radio...
Eclectic interests except for bluegrass, which I just can't seem to enjoy.
Regina Spektor has some interesting lyrics. She's the "...breaks my har ar ar ar, ar ar ar, ar ar ar, ar ar heart" singer, you know?
I'm re-establishing my taste for Gregorian Chant, and I really do enjoy singing loudly and poorly while a good church organ drowns me out. Here's a little something from a smallish singing group.Born and bred in Ohio, long long ago. After a marvelous career in Uncle Sam's Army (tours in Korea, West Germany, the City of Berlin and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, foreign countries all) I found myself in southern Pennsylvania. For the last dozen or so years I worked as one of the You've Got Questions, We've Got Answers guys, but the company has now changed the slogan. These days I help people "Do Stuff." Isn't that a truly brilliant marketing phrase? So, you got stuff you need to do, you come see me. Got nuttin' ta do? Go read a book...I have a few suggestions: Theology for Beginners by Sheed, Money's Lovemaps and Men, Women and the Mystery of Love by Edw. Sri. Oh, and for a really steamy read check out the Song of Songs by a guy named Solomon.
About thirty-five years ago (but who's counting) I slipped slowly away from my Catholic faith, but outwardly I continued to live a life I thought was okay. However, the Holy Spirit just doesn't ever stop offering Grace, and so several years ago I began my journey back to my God by listening to, and following, His lead. I am now more full of joy than I can remember ever being. Ever. But I've caused intense personal pain along the way, for which I am truly sorry. More detail is too personal for this place.
These days I am learning how to re-establish my place in this world as a dangerous man.

Sorry you're in a poor mood. I like your list of good reads. I found and friend-ed Lino through your page. I have never heard him but I'm sure I would love his show. Keep well.
