Fly Ly, born Lydell Collins has always been interested in fashion, sports, and music since a child. Known throughout the world for his swagger and prestige, this Coney Island born MC is destined for stardom!
"My goal is to be as big as Tiger Woods! Coming up I always admired athletes...especially the great ones. I respect their work ethic."
But it wasn't until the series of deaths of his mentors Allen Lewis (Jungle), Earl Dart (Fuff), and Brooklyn Legend Dennis Mack (Navada), that he began to take music much more serious.
"Those guys basically showed me how to survive in the streets. They were real good dudes. They took me in and I learned a lot from them. We all had the same dreams, we thirsted the cars, women, and money. We basically would do anything necessary to shine. But unfortunately, with street life there're only two ways out. Some people get lucky; I guess I'm one of those lucky ones." So in his pursuit to escape the crime riddled streets of Brooklyn, NY FLY LY began to work hard on his craft and take advantage of his opportunities. I used that motivation and created my label ABOVE THA LAW RECORDS. Me and my manager JR would just sit on the phone everyday and talk about how we need to live the "good life." We would brainstorm all day and all night until we just came up with the idea to make our own way. We created a label because we knew how hard it was to make music and try to get signed - it's almost impossible! Nowadays everyone raps...most of our friends have talent so we recruited them and put them on our label. Now we have a strong team of musicians and entertainers coming soon. Be on the lookout for my boy Popular, he's one of the realest dudes you'll hear on wax; it's unbelievable the kind of life he lives. I'm excited to hear how he puts his story on wax. We also got Cake, she's the flyest chick I've ever met and she can spit. I joke around and call her the female Lil Wayne.
