2006 Feature Film, Madelene (lead), Encore, directed by Colin Downey, Caliban Films
Encore charts the fatal decline in affection between a diffident young man and his chaste but sadistic financee, a kind of belle dans sans merci. Along with drawings, photographs and diary entries, effigies and puppets are used to explore issues of aggression and guilt. It's a layered, ingenious and disturbing piece about devotion and betrayal.

QUOTES
"Our Wonderful Home is Ivan Kavanah’s stunning new feature, boasting consummate performances from its three leads: Karen Griffin, Myles Horgan and Emma Eliza Regan". Galway Film Fleadh Programme 2008
“Karen Griffin, an actress with great screen presence, gives a compelling and fearless performance”. Manus McManus, Irish Film Archive, Film Ireland Article July August 2007 Edition regarding The Solution
"I was blown away by The Solution. It is a film that I find myself thinking about again and again. It's such an amazing exposure of certain human elements and fears we all keep buried in our conscience, yet seldom allow to escape. I was blown away by The Solution. It is a film that I find myself thinking about again and again. It's such an amazing exposure of certain human elements and fears we all keep buried in our conscience, yet seldom allow to escape. The incredible thing about your film is that after seeing it, I feel changed. Beyond conventional catharisis. The film deeply affected me in an intangible way that I can't explain to anyone who hasn't seen it. Yet, I'm reluctant to recommend it to just anyone. Certain people, and perhaps you agree, could never be asked to experience The Solution. I don't think I've ever felt this way about a film, at least not one whose power and intensity is conveyed with out voyeuristic crutches like violence, sex, and (explicit) language". Fred Smith, Festival of Movings Images, Tampa Florida in a letter to the Director Ivan Kavanagh regarding The Solution.
"The selection committee and myself found it a beautifully crafted achievement...". David Audet, Festival Director, Festival of Moving Images, Tampa Florida in a letter to Director Ivan Kavanagh regarding The Solution.
