About me:
I'm in the process of finding and booking an appropriate space for a monthly variety art show on Long Island. I'm hoping to get the Witch's Brew (Hempstead), but I'm certainly open to other options (space and name ideas are more than welcome). I'm looking to curate and host this monthly local arts event on the island starting this Fall. I am currently (and will continue to be) looking for exciting artists on or from the island who would be interested in presenting their work at an event like this. I'm talking painters, sculptors, photographers, illustrators, writers, spoken word artists, musicians, filmmakers, burlesque/circus artists, dancers...the list goes on. All are welcome! Currently seeking the following: ARTISTS - Contact me if you're interested in submitting material for consideration. DO NOT SEND ORIGINALS. Send demos, films, photos, reviews, anything that will accurately introduce me to your work while showcasing it and you in the best light. AUDIENCES - Let me know if this is something you'd want to attend. I need to have an idea of how many people to expect at one of these. Also, start telling your friends! ARTISANS - Got a CD you'd like to sell at one of these events ? T-shirts? A 'zine? Homemade vegan cupcakes? VENUE/NAME SUGGESTIONS - If you have any ideas regarding where these events should take place or what they should be called, shoot them my way! CURATORIAL ASSISTANTS - I would love to have one or two people helping me out as I plan and organize these events. GRAPHIC DESIGNER - I'm looking for someone to design posters and, possibly, a website advertising the event. This is a stipended position. Please contact me if you're interested in any of these positions.
