We are a band of different music styles, and tastes. A little top 40, with a twist of rock guitar, as well as some originals that are pure Texas.
Porch swing is a LONE HIWAY original song Add it to your profile
THE NAME FOR THE BAND CAME FROM THE IDEA OF SO Many MUSICIANS, WHO LIKE MYSELF, HAVE TRAVLED ALL OVER THIS GREAT STATE OF OURS, GOING FROM ONE GIG TO ANOTHER ON A LONE HIWAY.
THE IDEA TO FORM A NEW BAND CAME FROM THE LONG-TIME FRIENDSHIP BETWEEN JOHNNY LEE AND MIKE SULLIVAN, WHO HAD BEEN FRIENDS SINCE JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL AND FORMED THEIR FIRST BAND TOGETHER AT THE AGE OF 14.
After JOHNNY LEE had moved to Waco, Texas in the early 1980's, he befriended Texas Guitar Slinger, Eddy Shaver, and had played in countless central Texas bands including legend Billy Joe Shaver, as well as countless other recording artists, over a 22-year period. In 2004, JOHNNY LEE moved back to the Dallas area and played with Randy Allen for two years. In 2005, after losing touch with his old friend for several years, JOHNNY LEE reconnected with MIKE, and they came up the with idea to form a band together.
MIKE SULLIVAN grew up in Dallas, Texas in the White Rock Lake area and played in a few local groups. But after seeing how JOHNNY LEE was doing down in the Austin and Waco music scenes, MIKE was once again bitten by the Music Bugg and asked JOHNNY LEE to help reform the band they played in back in the old days when they were in high school at Bryan Adams. And LONE HIWAY was born.
RICK ELLIOTT grew up in Paris, Texas and moved around playing in bands from Houston all the way up to the Dallas-Fort Worth area. After playing with Cody Young and the Broken Spoke Band for a while, he met JOHNNY LEE and MIKE SULLIVAN and helped to form the band now called LONE HIWAY.
Since we have started LONE HIWAY we have ADDED a Steel Guitarist from Seagoville Texas "James Aaron" who played the Steel Guitarist in the Academy award winning ROBERT DUVALL movie "TENDER MERCIES"
BOBBY YSAGUIRRE Last but not least our Power House Drummer from Kingsville Texas formally of the Josh Good and the Randy Allen Band BOBBY YSAGUIRRE who also does back up vocals that makes all sound good!!

We are getting geared up for the 6th St Smokeout, and it's now just a week away!
We'll have plenty of pizza, from the Mellow Mushroom, to take care of your munchies, and we'll also have a psychedellic multimedia light show for your viewing pleasure!!
Also, if you have just a couple minutes to spare, go by Do512 and vote "I Like" on the event page there; it'll keep the Smokeout near the top of the list of events for that day, and the "Higher" we are on the list the better!!!! The Do512 event page is here: http://do512.com/event/2009/10/17/texas-normls-4th-annual-6th-street-smokeout
