LaRe is one of today's most captivating, innovative talents, with an explosive stage presence. Her performance emotes passion, creativity & a raw interpretation reflecting the historical past and future of Jazz. Her musicality, powerful musicianship & liquid phrasing are vibrant & spontaneous. This is a singer that stands out in the Jazz idiom.Her presence is a noticeable contrast to the majority of today's singers and is refreshing to hear such versatility, originality & conviction. LaRe is a 10x award winning lyricist, winning awards from Billboard Magazine, six ASCAP plus awards & from the USA Songwriting Competition. She has earned a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from one of the most sought out Jazz University's in the world; The New School University of Jazz & Contemporary Music majoring in performance, piano & music. Her musical influences & mentors include the vast body of work of Dr. Barry Harris, Billy Harper Shirley Horn, Abbey Lincoln, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn, Anita O'Day, John Coltrane,Charlie Parker & Bill Evans. LaRe has had the opportunity to work & study with some of the world's most presidential leaders in the history of Jazz including Reggie Workman, Billy Harper, Barry Harris, Charles Tolliver, Chico Hamilton, Amy London, Sheila Jordon & Mark Murphy. She has had the privilege of performing with some of the greatest musicians in Jazz; Rufus Reid, James Weidman, Henry Grimes, David Wong, Steve Williams, Benito Gonzales, David Budway, Paul Lieberman, Michael Kanan, Bertha Hope, Lonnie Plaxico, Aaron Graves and a host of others. LaRe was born in Utica New York & from a very early age comes from an eclectic musical experience, beginning in musical theatre, performing many off Broadway shows with The Upstagers, studied classical vocal instruction from a master tenor who served in the Metropolitan Opera in Europe & Florida, legendary Pasquale Caputo, who prepared her for a musical journey that lead her to Jazz. After ten years chasing her dream in Nyc, LaRe earned her BFA in Music, in 2006 opened for the legendary Benny Powell in Harlem, had a weekly show of her own she developed in Harlem for nearly two years called Jazz Fever Jam, in 2008 was chosen as one of the top 12 Jazz singers in Nyc's annual Jazzmobile Competition & made it to the top final four singers that was judged by founder Dr Billy Taylor & T.S.Monk, the son of the legendary Thelonious Monk. Following this was an unforgettable event where LaRe completed a month long performance in August 2008 in Nagoya Japan at one of the top six Jazz venues in all of Japan as the headlining Act performing six nights a week. In December 2009, LaRe was asked to perform at the 81st Birthday of the Legendary Jazz pianst Dr.Barry Harris. She is currently studying & performing with the Luminary Jazz Saxophonist Billy Harper in a 24 piece vocal harmony ensemble, The Billy Harper Voices. LaRe has performed in some of the most notable Jazz venues like The House of Jazz in Montreal Canada, The Zenith Sky Lounge in Japan, The Kitano Hotel on Park Avenue Nyc, Sweet Rhythm formerly Sweet Basil Nyc, Cobi's in Nyc & Parlor Jazz to name a few. She is recognized by the Jazz radio community including WBGO, WHCR & WOR radio and has received some very exciting press from a few Journalists, most recently from a Nyc Native Journalist Tommie Mason, who wrote "he heard the essence of Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald and a young Billie Holiday" after experiencing a live performance back home in April 2011, where LaRe opened the Spring Jazz Series which turned out 149 people and a sold out concert.
