Lamont Prince is a Singer, Composer, Producer and Actor from Washington, D.C. now living in Berlin, Germany.
A classically trained singer, Lamont Prince's contemporary vocal style merges gospel roots with elements of art-rock, and classic balladeering, creating a soulful hybrid all his own. As an electronic musician his eclectic influences help to create original music also not easily categorized. Formal training in dance, music theater and drama reflect broadly in his music and theatric presentations. These combined elements make for what have become known as "Legendary, Not To Be Missed Performances!" He has performed at the esteemed John F. Kennedy Centre in Washington DC, The Lincoln Centre for the Performing Arts in New York City and the historical Volksbuhne Theater in Berlin.
As the music and video director, and talent scout (1983-1993) for the internationally acclaimed 9:30 Club in Washington, D.C., "Lamont Prince was influential in helping to shape the music and culture of a whole generation. His many contributions are acknowledged to the present". As a Billboard magazine Club DJ reporter he received platnium and gold record awards from superstar artists Madonna, Depeche Mode, The Cure, R.E.M., De La Soul, Bobby Brown & EPMD. Mr. Prince's progressive music programming for the DC Eagle (1995-2000) introduced Washington DC's gay community to new frontiers in electronic dance music.
In 2000 he teamed with Swedish record producer Alexi Delano, co-writing and singing lead vocals on ADNY's "Dreaming" (Jori Hulkkonen & Jasper Dahlback remixes), which launched Tiga's Turbo Records label. He has also collaborated with German techno wizard Ingmar Koch aka Dr.Walker, Jammin' Unit (Air Liquide) & Khan as well as DJ DNA ("Donotask") the turntablist & founder of the influential alternative Dutch band Urban Dance Squad.
Lamont Prince "Sings Bowie" made it's European premiere in 2004 with two Sold-Out shows at Neues Ufer in Berlin, Germany. A memorable event in that the location is next to the apartment David Bowie lived in during the 70's while recording his monumental album "Heroes". The cafe was frequented by Bowie & Iggy Pop and is a Berlin landmark.
Mr. Prince is currently producing his next album entitled "Tarred & Feathered"
