Lighthouse keepers, preservationists, historians, supporters of lighthouse groups, and the many volunteers who work hard to preserve history and share it with others.
About me: The Long Island Lighthouse Society was formed in 2000 as a chapter of the US Lighthouse Society.
The group has made progress with several important projects, including the preservation of the Plum Island and Cedar Island lighthouses, the 2004 publication of a critically-acclaimed book on the history of all of Long Island's light stations (including lightships and lighthouses that no longer exist), and the creation of several popular special events, including the Beacons of the Night and Gold Coast lighthouse cruises.
Membership is open to the public and we are looking for volunteers for several projects, including our newsletter, special events, and more.
Visit www.LILighthouseSociety.org to learn more.
Who I'd like to meet: Lighthouse lovers and people who appreciate the wonder and importance of history. And former lighthouse keepers!

You have to include Ambrose, I watched the fireworks at Coney Island and Rockaway Play-land for a year. Towers and ships are not as pretty as land-based lights but they are lighthouses none the less.
