well, I started out as just a lowly poet girl but my amazing friend Jessica aka dj khemikil gave me the confidence that I could be more than just a poet...that I could be a rapper. So, from that day forth, we were known as mc vendetta and dj khemikil...together forming...Velvet Kreme. We played and recorded together for about a year and half and then, sadly upon college graduation...we had to part ways, musically. So, I was just vendetta...trolling the streets looking for venues that would have me and not have me arrested. I happened upon Coffee & in Buffalo, NY (my hometown) and I met two amazingly talented artist's and musicians, Jax and Mark. They told me that they were opening a performance space called Arte Brutale and I was invited to perform at their grand opening. So I played there and that led me to hundreds of other artists, musicians, and venues...right now I am working with an awesome mc black eldorado aka vision and we are working on a little thing we call the black vendetta project. I am still trolling the streets looking for a full-time band who is interested in stickin' it to the man and travelin' around playing shows. lemme know...
Modern guacamole comes in a variety of forms and the same can be said about Fresh Guac. Letís not get it twisted, the 2 are completely different. For one, you canít eat hip-hop music, but you can dip your hips, much like you can dip the chip. Furthermore, you can rock out to both the edible version of Guacamole and the audible version at a party. So, we feel the title is just and well worthy of comparison. The Spaniards stole the recipe from the Aztecs and they stole the musical version from NYC, but it all equates to good feelings, vibes and relativity. As you listen to this record, think about the metaphor between the edible and audible GuacamoleÖItís made from the heart, soul and culture from which it originated. The sound is undoubtedly fresh and without comparison, so when you finally get the chance to indulge, youíll know its Fresh Guac!
Things have been soo crazy lately. I had both sets of my parents up from FL for the past 2 wks. Things are finally calming down. I would love to see u soon. After pre-release tours in Colorado and Georgia, Dehlia Low’s new full-length cd “Tellico” will be presented for the first time in Asheville this Thursday at the Grey Eagle ($8/10, thegreyeagle.com)! Several cuts off the new disk can be heard on at www.myspace.com/dehlialow and live takes of a few of the songs will be performed Thursday afternoon on WNCW 88.7FM. Thursday night’s show will also be a chance for those of you who didn’t make it to Merlefest to hear Lyons, Colorado’s own Spring Creek Bluegrass Band, who are also preparing to release a new disk next month. Dehlia Low will also be joined by “Tellico” producer Jon Stickley of the Shannon Whitworth band. We hope to see you out and thanks for supporting live, original, and local music.
