Mad Orchid is an alternative modern rock band from Connecticut. Their origins stem from late 2007 when singer/songwriter Mike Ostuni, drumming for signed band Craving Lucy at the time, began compiling music he was writing for an original project. He called up long-time friend and bass player Kyle Berardinelli, who immediately fell in love with the music. After a few months of searching, they heard about an amazing local drummer from the band The Givin but had no idea how to contact him since information on their site wasn't current and no one knew him personally. Fate scared them when the next morning they received an email from Tony Dilonardo inquiring about an ad he had seen online; Tony just happened to be the drummer they had heard about the day before. The final piece came in the form of Berklee grad Joe Bastura who also stumbled upon an online ad for a lead guitarist soon after the breakup of his Jagermeister-sponsored band Pushboxx.
Since then, Mad Orchid have released two EPs (the five-song "Detach" and the three-song "Absolve"), one LP entitled "Crush..." (an amalgamation of the previous EPs), and are currently recording a new album at Five Below Studios in Naugatuck, CT. They have done extensive regional touring throughout New England and New York to promote "Detach" and "Absolve" and are continuing to perform while they work on their new album.
Mad Orchid is endorsed by Illusion Clothing and In Tune Guitar Picks and have recently performed on Comcast's "Up and Coming" television series. They are a featured Homegrown Band on 106.9 WCCC Hartford and receive airplay and are advertised on PIXY 103 FM Cape Cod, 88.7 WHSU FM New Haven, WXPR New York, and Alexa Digital Radio, among others. They have performed for various major benefit concerts and organizations, including LIVESTRONG and Make A Wish Foundation.
