I've heard it all before and it's just not any sort of challenge shooting down your crap. So go play someplace else.

In 2005 my eldest son decided to join the United States Marines. He made the decision even though he knew we were at war. He has become a fine, strong young man with a noble heart and values that make his father damned proud of him. He is also a talented musician who plays guitar, keyboard and some drums, and sings better than he realizes. He has exceeded my every expectation. When he gets shipped out this spring, he will be part of a unit of the finest fighting men ever to wield weaponry -- the modern U.S. Marine Corps. Though he makes the trip without us, he does not go alone. We will be there in his heart, and if Fate is kind, we will help guide his every move, through the lessons and values we taught him. I know that he may not return, and so does he. But that does not stop him. I know that my wife and I sleep safe every night in our bed because he and his comrades are willing to lay their lives on the line to keep us from harm. I know that each one of us therefore owes each of them a debt that we can never hope to repay. Thus the very least we can do is show them the respect they've earned, and give them whatever comforts we can when they come home. So, visitors to this page and readers of my blogs are hereby warned that no disrespect of any kind toward our soldiers will be tolerated. I'm sorry that the most I can do is block such people; if I could wring their necks, I would do it gladly and rid the world of their foolishness. I would finish with a "Semper Fidelis" but sadly I never earned the privilege. So I'll just have to say, "Come home with your shield, or on it. Keep your chin up and your head down."
