About me:

..

[- bio -]

Miguel Alvarado has rapidly become one of Seattle’s most established DJs. Born and raised in Mexico City, Miguel moved to Seattle in 1996. He had a start with music in his early teens, period during which he became interested in percussion instruments (drum set and latin percussion). Miguel as a teenager formed a band with his friends called “Los Cuervos,” which later evolved into “Reptil.” His bands played in some of the most popular live band clubs of the time in Mexico City, such as Rock Stock, Rockotitlan, El Hijo del Cuervo and La Diabla. While Miguel was busy with live music, he also developed an interest in DJ-ing. He began throwing parties with his friends where he would play Acid House for the underground lovers, and remixes of more commercial tracks by by producers such as Shep Pettibone. During that time Miguel became a tracker (mod) addict, using Scream Tracker and Impulse Tracker.

Miguel took an extensive break from music starting in 1998 to devote his focus to software development. In 2004, however, he realized that music was an integral part of him that could not be shut down, and was necessary in his life. He decided then to return to his path of music through DJing. He began to throw underground parties known as MixNights, which consisted of combining house with world beats flavors. He later hosted a monthly house night at the Mirabeau, followed by a weekly residency at club Element. Miguel has had played in various Seattle clubs, including Last Supper Club, Heavens, Chop Suey, See Sound, Trinity, Neumos, Showbox, and The W Hotel Lounge. He has played alongside numerous international artists including, The Scumfrog, James Zabiela, DJ Rap, Johnny ‘00’ Fleming, Max Graham and Robbie Rivera.

Currently Miguel hosts a monthly night at Club Trinity branded as “Let’s Get Dirty”. He also holds a residency at See Sound Lounge which was nominated for best lounge world wide at the WMC Club Awards in 2006. Despite his love for DJ’ing, his other true passion resides within making music, so he’s been busy in the studio working on his first batch of original dance music material.

You can be sure to expect great production related material from Miguel Alvarado over the next few months…
