DJ Envy started out as a mixtape phenomenon and was signed to DJ Clue's label, Desert Storm. He also started his own company, Blok Entertainment. His successful album The Desert Storm Mixtape: Vol. 1 Blok Party on Sony featured top artists such as Jay-Z, Joe Budden, and Lloyd Banks.
