NRG was formed in 1997 by Leon Kelly & Alison Frost, with the concept that there has not been any mainstream boy/girl duo's in the UK charts for quite some time.
With this in mind they decided that experience was necessary in order for them to learn all the skills that they would need to acheive their ambitions, with this in mind they both decided it was time to start touring the country promoting themselves as the only energetic boy/girl duo the UK had to offer, in doing this not only did they gain the experience of performing in front of live audiences but in doing so they were also creating a fanbase at the same time.
In the early years NRG went from performing at Pubs & Clubs to then performing all over the UK nightclub circuit such as Brannigans, Jumpin Jaks, Chicago Rock Cafe's & other independant nightclubs.
As NRG became more popular it was not long before the larger venues in the UK decided they to wanted NRG to appear at their events and venues.
These included The Winter Gardens in Blackpool where they played live to an audience of 6000, Party In The Park in front 10,000
NRG received their first taste of chart success in May 2000 when they were asked to provide vocals on the N-TRANCE smash single
"Shake ya body" when the single was released it went straight into the UK top 40 and subsequently the video for the single went straight into the top ten MTV & The Box video chart for several weeks.
Following on from their success on the N -Trance single NRG were approached by a Sound Syndicate Productions who had just
finished writing tracks for Robbie Williams and remixing tracks for people like Usher, Toni Braxton & Whitney Houston.
NRG accepted their offer and began recording new and original dance music with them,, After over 12 months of recording NRG felt the time was right to approach UK record labels and show them what NRG had to offer, as they now had over an albums worth of new and original material.
The response was good and NRG were immediatley seen as a great prospect and a deal looked in place with a major label, but unfortunatley a cut in the labels budget meant they were unable to comitt at the time to a long term deal with NRG.
Following their fantastic work with Sound Syndicate NRG felt confident that they were now able to take the reins with their music career and the production of their music and decided to produce some of their own material as well as networking with several unknown dance producers, who like NRG were talented but just had not had the luck that they so deserved.
The first track out of the new era of NRG was a cover of The Danny Wilson classic from 1988 called Mary's Prayer, when the track was completed and NRG began promoting the track It didnt take long before all the major radio stations in the UK picked up on the track and began playing the track live on air, its good to point out here some signed bands spend years trying to have their record played on radio only to never have it happen, so for an unsigned band to suddenly have this exposure created a buzz about NRG.
After speaking with several labels regarding Mary's Prayer NRG felt that they were just short of that killer mix for the track so instructed all of their remixers to come up with something special, At this current moment there are all working hard on the track.
With Mary's Prayer still a work in progress NRG decided to use the contacts that Mary's Prayer had given them and start on a new batch of ideas, Tracks such as Very First Time, You Can Call Me Al, Fire In The Sky & More originals have continued to keep NRG in the minds of several record company executives.
NRG have grown from strength to strength since there establishment in 1997, they have a major sponsorship deals with Prolight, Adlib Audio, Denon
Both Alison & Leon continue to write and produce their own songs as well as working with top producers and providing vocals for several dance projects which have been successful.
2006 & 2007 both look set to play an influential part on the
career of NRG
