NICK GARRETT --
Bass-baritone, pianist, songwriter, arranger. He's sung over 33 major operatic roles, performed in front of millions, including royalty.
Nick was a founding member;and bass-baritone, for the multi-million selling artist Amici forever, composing and arranging all the vocal arrangements on their most recent album Defined.
Nick is now embarking on his solo recording career and as a true classical crossover performer, Nick Garrett has done it all. In a recent press interview Nick explains,"....'crossing over' means that I am first and foremost an opera singer, but I love experimenting and I have a connection with world music and jazz, easy listening and rock and pop, as well as classical music. I do think that crossover needs to evolve. Its not good enough now just to overlay a beat with some strings. Audiences have become more sophisticated and they want to see real talent and true ability from a cross-over artist. After all how can you be cross-over if you havent crossed-over from anywhere? I enjoyed arranging Defined for Amici forever. I am proud of my contribution to the album and although I no longer sing with the group its gratifying to know that my music lives on through them."
According to the HMV review, "Garrett, has the knack of identifying what famous classical melodies will work for voice and cleverly rearranging them as Italianate operatic showstoppers."
Having taught himself to play the piano from the age of seven, Nick was accepted by Trinity College of Music to study singing, composition, piano and conducting before wining a much coveted singing grant from the Wolfson Foundation.
Since the launch of his official website , a staggering 1 million visitors have hit the site within just 5 months and his VIP Inner Sanctum Members are growing daily. Whether performing live or on CD, the unmistakable, rich and powerful voice of Nick Garrett resonates in the hearts and minds of all who hear him. Listen to his own compositions and see why he has been tipped by the music press as "....the one to watch in 2006."

Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?

Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.

Kaka Bhainiawala, a strong voice of the Punjabi music industry, completed his journey and moved to a better place. His voice will be missed by millions of his fans. In his loving memory, Singer G-Deep aka Gagna of USA wrote a tribute track to remember his music and his work. Kaka Bhainiawalas music has inspired G-Deep to make music. G-Deep wrote this song the same day he heard about the demise of KAKA. "I just wrote the lyrics and what my heart was feeling, but this is the voice of every heart who loves Bhangra music and Kaka Bhainiawala", says G-Deep. Music was produced and arranged by DJ Harry from NY. Immediately after DJ Harry heard the lyrics and the composition, he got busy in the studio to make this possible. DJ Harry quoted "Kaka's songs are in the heart of every DJ and I am blessed to work on something like Sach Kakaiya." The song and video for Sach Kakaiya, was released on July 15 on various websites. So put youre glassy up for Sach Kakaiya and R.I.P. Kaka Bhainiawala. Thanks
