In an industry where female singers are a dime a dozen, Niki Ski stands above the rest as a true musical artist, writer, composer, and performer. Born 1990 in South Florida, Niki taught herself to play classical piano by ear at the age of 8, and drums at age 15. It was then that she got her first taste of performing live, playing shows all over the country as the drummer in the rock band Blue Rose Rocket. Meanwhile, she was also becoming an overnight youtube sensation with her ‘Smokin’ Hot Drummer Girl’ video reaching over 800,000 views. “It was crazy” says Niki “I would have never guessed that video would have blown up the way it did, but it opened allot of doors for me.” Less than 3 years later, Blue Rose Rocket’s 2nd album “No man’s land” was nominated by The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences for a Gramophone Award and she was invited to attend the 2008 Grammys as a nominee, where big names in the industry started taking notice to her unique musical abilities. After celebrating the success of her band, Niki decided to to take a break from Blue Rose Rocket to focus her attention on acting and song writing. “It was something I always wanted to do” she said “I just didn’t realize how natural it would come to me”. Fascinated with music production, she started making beats and soon found a passion for creating electronic music. “I think as an artist, it’s important i make all of my own music. Yea...” Niki says jokingly “i make my own beats... girls can be producers too.” Now Niki Ski is stepping out on her own as a solo artist and has teamed up with artist / music producer Joey Danger to work on her current solo album Louder. With a live show as unique as her sound (playing live drums and keyboard at the same time) Niki Ski is proving she’s not just another pretty face… she’s a 1 woman show.
