About me: The idea behind No Cheesy Party DJ's is simple. The annoying, cheesy DJ is something that people have been making fun of on TV and in movies for years. Still, when you want to hire a DJ for your wedding or party, what you'll mostly find are people that look like they stepped right out of a Saturday Night Live sketch. How many weddings have you been to with a bad DJ? We can't count how many times we've heard about beautiful weddings with awful music. We simply want to have a good DJ that won't talk like a morning radio "personality", insist on wearing a tux and play the Macarena (unless, of course, you want them to).
NO CHEESY PARTY DJs is a NATIONAL directory of great DJ's but the folks who started it are right here in San Diego. Not surprisingly, we've DJ'd a wedding or two. We're busy adding information to this page and building a "real" page at NoCheesyPartyDJsSanDiego.com but we can still DJ your bar mitzvah tonight if you need us to. We have a great team of DJ's who have done hundreds of club nights, parties and weddings at dive bars, corporate parties and the Hotel Del Coronado.
Sorry we don't have a slick website bragging about how many thousands of weddings we've done. We're just cool, reliable, down-to-earth people with great music and equipment. Just because we don't spend a lot of time promoting ourselves, doesn't make us the best DJs for your party. We will play whatever you want and bring a ton of tunes you might not have thought of. We'll also work for a fraction of the price of a "seasoned professional" who might just drive you and your loved ones insane.
MORE DETAILS SOON! Let us know if you have any questions.
THE MOMENT THIS SITE WAS CONCEIVED
Some musician friends of mine decided to have their wedding reception at the legendary Lafayette Hotel in San Diego. It was a great night but when it came time for us to dance, the DJ they'd hired slowly began to ruin things. Time after time, right when he'd get a ton of excited, happy dancers going, he'd cut away to something that would empty the dancefloor and punctuate it with a "Lookin' good out there!" on the mic. Finally, when he played "Groove Is In The Heart", a song the bride and I had talked about dancing to earlier, I ran over and BEGGED him not to cut it short. About 90 seconds in and WAY before Q-Tip's rap, he segued into Metallica's "Enter Sandman" and immediately cleared the place. ENTER SANDMAN!? I started SCREAMING at him until people had to hold me back. I don't drink. EVER. I grabbed someone's beer and went back to the empty dance floor and sat down, plotting this very page....
(actual photo from that night's one man No Cheesy DJ's planning session) POSTNOTE: I hate to name names but this man is known as The Party Rican. "I'm a Puerto Rican that loves to party. Get it?...The Party Rican!" Yep, we get it. I was so inspired by how proud he was of his heritage that I almost named our company "Jew Gotta Fight For Your Right To Party". Almost.
When Christmas bells are swinging above the fields of snow, We hear sweet voices ringing from lands of long ago, And etched on vacant places Are half-forgotten faces Of friends we used to cherish, And loves we used to know. At Christmas I no more desire a rose, Than wish a snow in May's new-fangled shows; But like of each thing that in season grows. There's more, much more to Christmas Than candle-light and cheer; It's the spirit of sweet friendship That brightens all the year; It's thoughtfulness and kindness, It's hope reborn again, For peace, for understanding And for goodwill to all men, women, and children!
