We are influenced, motivated to do what we do, by negative people. In particular, those who say we can't be successful in the long term because Modestans could give a shit about independent music. If you are one of these individuals, we would like to thank you and your fork tounges for continually kicking us in the ass.
What is Off the Air? What do you do at Off the Air? Why is everyone talking about Off the Air?

"Off The Air" is an independently owned and operated production company dedicated to producing the finest live independent music events in the Central Valley; determined to lead the charge in creating a young, vibrant, forward thinking community of progressives that genuinely support those who choose to live and express themselves musically and artistically in the greater Modesto area.
Off The Air presents one to two shows monthly at various locations in the Downtown Modesto area featuring the best local and touring independent music acts as well as providing local artists and good makers a “gallery” to display and sell their art.
"Rock and roll is not for rocket scientists anyway. But even so, don't fake it. Go out there, have a good time. Don't act out your passion for the audience. Put it in the fucking music." —Peter Coyote, Actor
"...no matter where you are in your gigging career, development and growth is an ongoing thing — even after routine sets in, each show can and should still be a learning experience. Whether or not there is a packed house, you're plugged or unplugged, sticking religiously to your album or completely reinterpreting it beyond recognition, perhaps the most important lesson is that the performance has to mean something to you if you want it to mean something to others." —Katherine Hoffert, Editor, West Coast Performer Magazine
"...for any bands that might be reading this: It's so fucking important to stumble through the tumultuous process of booking, managing and touring without anyone doing it for you. We've had managers and we've also trekked it solo, and at this point it's easy to see how invaluable all those experiences were. You don't want anyone doing something for you unless you know exactly what they are doing for you. It sucks, it's often boring and can even be discouraging, but it's totally important.
So, DIY or DIE! Until you know all about doing it yourself and then actually feel like vomiting up pancreatic fluids and gall stones from doing so much yourself; THEN, recruit the experts!" —Agent Ribbons (www.myspace.com/agentribbons)
