OIAM started on September 1st 2009. Where Kaci (Leah) and Billie (Alecia) got together during another boring math lesson and decided to make up this duo.
Kaci and Billie became friends the previous year after Kaci came over from the UK to live in Australia. Brought together by close friends and similar interests, Kaci and Billie became best friends. In the beginning of the next year Kaci took up guitar, Billie with Bass and began taking lessons every week on top of their music lessons and other subjects. Developing new skills and hobbies Kaci and Billie joined a few friends and became a band called 'Revenge for the Romance' or RiFTeR. After RiFTeR was formed stress became a whole new thing, Kaci and Billie went through a lot of it. Members of RiFTeR stopped showing up for school, others were getting on their backs trying to get them to perform different songs and pressure was getting to much for just two girls to handle with out their other band members. So fights and arguments broke loose between Kaci and Billie with the other band members.
Later on in the year Kaci and Billie went to their first band camp as a duo to rehearse a cover of one of Kasey Chambers songs called ' If I were you' which got Kaci and Billie away from reality for four days. In this band camp Kaci and Billie learnt new things in the music industry, finding music a lot more interesting and continued to develop their instrumental skills in both solo and group performances. New emotions were experienced and bonds were made with other musicians.
On the 19 September 2008 OIAM performed 'If I were you' by Kasey Chambers at their school concert for the first time as the duo. One week later they performed twice in front of a group of soon-to be high school students. Kaci and Billie knew that they needed more shows to perform at and since then OIAM has taken up as many performances as they can.
When arriving back from the band camp Kaci and Billie realised that there was little chance for RiFTeR to get anywhere and that due to constant arguments between the members, Billie came up with the idea to make a duo with Kaci. Kaci then turned around and came up with the name OIAM knowing that with Billie they could make a difference and show others that its possible to make a better future with music...
These days OIAM is usually making music to represent what is happening to them at that moment in time. OIAM is one of the only bands that doesn't have a particular style of music, Kaci and Billie make music that goes with the lyrics and mood of the song. The Styles can change from Punk Rock, Alternative and Country all the way too Disco, Heavy Metal and Pop.
