Ouroboros - The Lashing of the Flames

Ouroboros - Animal, Man... Machine

Ouroboros - Edifice of Tyranny Live @ Erina Shredfest

"...The heaviness in their sound comes from the precision of their delivery. Despite some very adventurous riffs, the performance is always as tight as a nun's private parts." Rating: 5-5.5/6 - MetalReview.com

"It is apparent from the outset that Ouroboros have their act together in the instrumental department. Opening track "Absent form Eternity" features finger cramping riffs delivered with enough speed and precision to rival countrymen Psycroptic..." - MetalReview.com

"'A Path To Extinction' is a pure Death/Thrash gem! On this EP you'll find power, brutality, passion and drive that is dangerously attractive." - Thoughts Of Metal

"One of the most promising and ruthlessly effective outfits to materialize from the ocean of newcomers..." - Black Belle Webzine

"In the bio it explains how the members are perfectionists with their music and I am telling you now, you can seriously hear that in this album. It is brilliant!" - Mystic Metal

"Ouroboros have successfully managed to perfect that fine balance between outright aggression, technical musicianship and memorability that can prove so elusive to many bands. " - The Black Arts - Metal Radio

"Manic drums, crushing riffs, soaring solos and a beastly guttural vocal delivery all combine to create sheer devastation..." - Mouth For War

"...hook laden, powerful and utterly memorable." Rating: 4/5 - Metal-Rules.com

"...Powerful and melodic. ...Ouroboros bring us a thrash death style EP which you can appreciate from the very first chord they punch in." - Black Death Magazine

Ouroboros’ death-injected-thrash is not only technically impressive, but it’s also damn powerful and will get your head moving no question." Rating: 8.7/10 - Metal Obsession

"This sounds tight and powerful, the pounding drums accompanied by some dark guitar riffs that often turn into some visceral, speedy solos that lift the listener off his feet. Add to this the mid to fast-paced transitions that are so well done that they just feel natural, "meant to be", and this little sucker is a prime candidate for the Repeat button. But, only four songs? Those Aussies sure know how to tease. I want a full-length album and I want it now." Rating: 4.25/5 - The Metal Crypt

"[Ouroboros'] legions of fans on the floor show they do have a healthy following, which is a positive sign in the local metal scene." - Live review from Metal As Fuck

Opening to a rather sparse crowd [Ouroboros] managed to entice punters to join the pit with their technical and flawless delivery of heavy fucking metal. "Animal Man Machine" saw the crowd turn to insanity. With the opening of a ruthless pit, this was the start of what was evident to be a brutal gig - insane music and punters alike. With a strong and hard stage presence - Evgeny's beastly vocal delivery, crushing and intricate solos, as well as blast beats on behalf of David - Ouroboros showed the audience the high level of Australian metal. Closing their set with "Absent from Entity", Ouroboros delivered an impressive set that received a huge response from present fans, and those converted on the night." - Live review from Voltage Media

OUROBOROS (pronounced OR-oh-BOR-us) is composed of five musicians from Sydney, Australia. This quintet fuses elements of death, thrash, melodic and progressive metal. By doing so their aim is to challenge their audience and push the boundaries of their genre.

In 2007 OUROBOROS self released and distributed a (now sold out) four track EP titled "A Path to Extinction". This release was quickly followed by 2 music videos which have been aired extensively on national television in Australia. Since its release, the four track EP and accompanying videos have been instrumental in promoting the band's music to metal audiences worldwide.

OUROBOROS has been playing live since mid 2007 and have attracted a loyal fan base that vehemently supports them on and off the stage. Not long after their first show an independently established fan club & street team who dubbed themselves "The Cookie Army" formed, further boosting the band's network of supporters. More recently the band has secured support slots on Cannibal Corpse's 2009 Australian tour, Psycroptic's "ObServant" Australian tour and the Australian Summer Slaughter Tour alongside Necrophagist, Dying Fetus, Aborted and The Faceless.

In 2009 OUROBOROS was nominated for 5 awards in the first ever AUSTRALIAN METAL AWARDS. Against some staggering competition, OUROBOROS managed to take home 3 of these including Best Bassist, Best Drummer and Best Unsigned Band.

The band is currently working on their debut full length to be released in 2010.

OUROBOROS (originally called 'DRED') had its early beginnings in Sydney Australia during 2001, when two school friends Denis Vlachiotis and Michael Conti (Bass/Vocals) collaborated to write and assemble material. With Conti initially performing both bass and vocal duties, the band's music began to take shape. Combining attributes of thrash and death metal, they were to spend the next two years developing the band's direction, rehearsing, writing and refining their original material.

In late 2004, they met musician Mikhail Okrugin (Rhythm/Lead Guitar) and knew they had found someone who shared their passion. He joined the band and the nucleus of OUROBOROS was firmly established.

The search for a drummer proved to be more of a challenge. However, after a thorough search David Horgan was spotted competing in the final of a prestigious national drumming competition. Within a short time he took his place behind the drums for OUROBOROS.

The search for a vocalist was easier, as close friend of the band Evgeny Linnik agreed to join the band in late 2005. Evgeny's performance experience, powerful stage presence and unique vocal style complemented the band perfectly.

In late 2007, Denis chose to leave OUROBOROS in order to pursue a solo career. The band found a replacement in Chris Jones (Rhythm/Lead Guitar), a talented guitarist from the Central Coast.

After much thought and preparation in early 2009 DRED had decided a name change was a necessary step for the band's future. It was a unanimous decision that the band needed a name that would better suit the band's musical and lyrical direction and could capture what was entailed in the overall messages put forth. From here on forward DRED will be known as OUROBOROS.
