"Play Every Show Like It's Your Last..." - Parts Per Million
What do you get when you cross a master's degree, alcohol, magic, perversion, and a creepy Craigslist ad? Chicago band, Parts
Per Million. PPM (Jay Ro > vocals, guitar, violin, synth | Jimmy Jensen > drums | Bruce Rarang > bass | Jimmy Chung > guitar) exploded onto the
local Chi-town music scene in late 2008, quickly rising high above the emo soaked sonic landscape. Why is Parts Per Million so vivid and unforgettable?
Because they are unique. While other bands follow trends and cater their sound to a certain audience, PPM does what so many
bands seem to have forgotten; write good songs. Parts Per Million's music rings true with hooky choruses, hard edges, epic
violin passages, and synth fury. It's easy to hear why their audience runs the gamut from the young person just discovering rock
music, to the college student listening for something new; to the party people looking to knock back a few while rocking out to some heavy tunes, and
finally to the more mature, seasoned listener who isn't afraid to admit that they enjoy the rolling, violin filled passages.
Parts Per Million is a diverse group of individuals, with an eclectic range of interests, even outside the world of music. But many times it's easy
to see how their outside influences manifest themselves in their musicianship. Jay is commonly thought of as the brains of the operation. He holds a
bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Purdue, as well as a master's degree in statistics from the prestigious University of Chicago. Besides
his academic accolades, Jay was classically trained on the piano and violin at a very young age, so it's easy to see why Jay is a such a focused and
precise player and songwriter.
Jimmy J. has been involved in art since childhood, and has morphed his love of drawing into a career as a graphic designer. He discovered his creativity
translated well into music when he joined band in grade school, continuing on into college with various symphonic, marching, and jazz bands. With Parts Per
Million, Jimmy J. provides a very Bonham-esque thrash/pound/smash, complete with whiskey in hand.
Jimmy C. is just plain magic. No seriously, you can usually catch him chatting up the ladies, wowing them with his sleight of hand skills. There is
much that Jimmy can sneak right past you, including the fact that he successfully runs his own home rehab business. Aside from taping TV spots featuring his
magic, he also performs with an allstar sketch comedy group in Chicago. Jimmy really cut his teeth musically while in college on the East Coast. There
he played in numerous bands, and was lucky enough to share the stage with many national acts, including Seether, Buckcherry, and Collective Soul. Jimmy's
magical and technical saavy can be seen in his surgeon-like guitar skills, as well as his absolutely rabid stage presence.
Bruce, otherwise known as 'Sweet Brucey Goodness', is a very smooth individual. He works for a prominent Chicago ad agency, so he is a master of persuasion.
Goodness has been rocking the local Chicago scene for many years, participating in a lot a shows, TV tapings, and documentaries. His bass
playing can be likened to his favorite viewing material; smooth, low, and many times explicit.
And how were they all brought together, from such different, yet diverse backgrounds? Craigslist. That's right, Craigslist. Jay put out an A.P.B. and three
individuals who happened to be fed up with their current projects answered the call. The crazy part is, it's been a year since their inception, and Parts
Per Million has already accomplished more than all of its members' previous bands, combined. If PPM can gather this much momentum in only a year, who
knows what the future could hold for them? Keep an eye out, Parts Per Million is coming to a stage near you!

The turkey shot out of the oven and rocketed into the air, it knocked every plate off the table and partly demolished a chair.
It ricocheted into a corner and burst with a deafening boom, then splattered all over the kitchen, completely obscuring the room.
It stuck to the walls and the windows, it totally coated the floor, there was turkey attached to the ceiling, where there'd never been turkey before.
It blanketed every appliance, it smeared every saucer and bowl, there wasn't a way I could stop it, that turkey was out of control.
I scraped and I scrubbed with displeasure, and thought with chagrin as I mopped, that I'd never again stuff a turkey with popcorn that hadn't been popped.
In every change that you experience in life, there will be times when you'll wonder if you can endure. But you'll learn that facing each difficulty one by one isn't so hard. It's when you don't deal with a situation that it sometimes comes back to confront you again. Changes are sometimes very painful, but they teach us that we can endure and that we can become stronger. Everything that comes into your life has a purpose, but the outcome is in your hands by the action you take. Be wise with your life, be willing to endure, and always be willing to face life's challenges.

Always aim higher than you believe you can reach. So often, you'll discover that when your talents are set free by your imagination, you can achieve any goal.
If people offer their help or wisdom as you go through life, accept it gratefully. You can learn much from those who have gone before you. But never be afraid or hesitant to step off the accepted path and head off in your own direction if your heart tells you that it's the right way for you.
Always believe that you will ultimately succeed at whatever you do, and never forget the value of persistence, discipline, and determination.
You are meant to be whatever you dream of becoming.
