Sticks in a bundle are unbreakable"
~~~ Kenyan proverb
Afrikan Sistahs seeks to assist in healing the Black woman worldwide, using Afrikan Traditonal Spirituality, specifically Yoruba. We intend to go back to the original ways of our Afrikan Ancestral mothers in teaching Black women how to be tender with themselves and each other.
I was inspired in part, by the words of Audre Lorde, "and when we speak we are afraid our words will not be heard, nor welcomed, but when we are silent we are still afraid. So it is better to speak remembering we were never meant to survive".
Black women were brought to the new world to be used as slaves and to breed more slaves. No one at that time thought we would survive against the horrific, immeasurable odds against us. However, we did survive and have become the backbone the afrikan american family.
There is one thing missing however, and that is our ability to use our inherent power as descendants of the Afrikan to heal ourselves as well as our ability to pull together as Sisters. The ability to have true Sisterhood was left on the shores of our homeland. Unlike the religion of our ancestors, Sisterhood did not survive the Middle Passage and the resulting enslavement of our people.
In the villages of Afrika, women are respected as Mothers, Sisters, Wives, Co-wives, Aunts and Daughters. Women pull together for the survival of the family. They raise children together, make money in the marketplace and have their own societies to deal with the ills of the afrikan community. This has been so from creation.
It is now time for "daughters of the yam" to learn to "draw up the powers from the deep like before", in the words of Toni Cade Bambara from "The Salt Eaters". In so doing, perhaps we can empower ourselves in the ways of the Original mothers and learn to heal ourselves, our families and our communities.
May we all be blessed from the Heavens as we go about our healing journey.
Ase!
May it be so!
Princess Adinasse Prays for African Reconciliation Posted at 1:15 PM Jul 20, 2008 view more
==================================================
Her Royal Grace, the Princess Ademide Adinasse is a globally recognized African activist of the West African royal bloodlines and daughter of the King of Ketu, West. Africa. Additionally, she is initiated as a Yoruba and Vodoun Priestess at the Chief and pre-Chief levels, with her head divinity being Shango. Prior to her discovering her royal roots and ensuing restoration, the Princess was known as Iya Shangofunmilayo Ademidemeji or simply "Iya Ade".*************
Princess Adinasse is the first known African American divided by the trans-atlantic slave genocide to be restored to her royal roots using traditional restoration rites. These rites, historically, have been reserved for those of the royal bloodlnes separated by wars and tribal conflict. She has now been reunited with her family in West Africa and is working to build a bridge between the Motherland, who is atoning for their role in the Trans-Atlantic Slave genocide by providing land and immediate citizenship for African slave descdants, and the African Diaspora.************
Who I'd like to meet: Others who are interested in healing self and those interested in reconciling Diasporic Africans with the Motherland. Other important interests is the empowerment of women of color, healing Black Family Dysfunction and holistic living.
I like to meet Sistahs particularly who know who they are, or, alternatively are on the path of finding themselves.
I am here to bring the message of reconciliation from the Traditional Rulers in West Africa to all Diasporic Africans.
Traditional Rulers Dedicated To Atoning
For Their
Role In The Trans-Atlantic Slave Genocide
The Traditional Rulers of Benin Republic, certain areas in Yorubaland, along with the traditional Tribal Chiefs have prepared for many years for the return of the children of the Motherland sold/stolen into the trans-atlantic slave genocide. We are deeply committed to atoning for our role in the genocide of millions of our beloveds. To that end, we are dedicated to building a bridge between the Diaspora and the Motherland to reconcile and welcome home the lost children of Mother Africa. We will do this by "any means necessary" and promise to work hard to right what has for so long been so very wrong. Plans are on-going for other ways we can do the right thing by the descendants of millions of our family members.
Tours to Benin and parts of Yorubaland are on-going for the reunion and restoration of the lost children of the Motherland. You all have family who wants to see you and embrace you! We will not rest until we have complete restoration of all African lineages to their pre-genocide glory.
Please take my word for it when I say your homecoming will be a joyous occasion for us all, one that has been 400 years overdue. Further, should you request it, a traditional roots reading can be made to assist you in finding the family you left behind. My own royal bloodlines were discovered during a traditional roots reading. During that reading, it was discovered that my ancestors are from the powerful Oyo and Dahomey Empires. In order to put me and my bloodlines back into line to ascend throne, traditional restoration rituals were performed. I'll post a link in another thread on a lecture done by Black Indian historian Angela Molette on the historical implications of my restoration.
I can tell you that you will love the beauty that is Benin! There are no words to describe the home from whence I was stolen. If you have ever been to the Diasporic Islands, Benin holds more beauty than even the scenery there. The sea salt air, the peace that envelopes Benin, the luscious flora, the beauty of it's people and rich culture make for a wonderful home. The breathtaking scenery from the beaches in Ouidah to the colorful marketplaces to the serene beauty of the village on stilts are truly sights to behold.
I also love the Kingdom of my father, Ketu! Oh my word, the lushness of the farmlands, the beauty of our people, the bustling marketplace, the beautiful red dirt from which we were originally molded, the culture of our ancestors which remain intact after all these years.
The most beautiful thing about Benin though, to me, is that it, along with Yorubaland, is home for me forever. I'm finally home and I wish you were as well.
Please come home where you are missed, wanted and loved.
It would be a pleasure for my family and I to welcome you back home for a most majestic and joy filled reunion. All of Africa awaits your return.
