If Shaft was living in southern California and he invited Bob Marley and Jimi Hendrix over for dinner, QWIKSAND would make a groovy-side dish. With captivating live performances and a unique and original sound that mixes funk, surf, rock and reggae, QWIKSAND has continued to grow in popularity earning the love, support and respect of fans across the US while gathering solid reviews, national charting, interviews, press coverage, television appearances, film soundtracks, and airplay on Alternative, AAA, Hot AC Commercial and College Radio Stations in over 200 cities throughout the US, Canada and UK. The band was originally formed in 2003 and was named QWIKSAND to honor those who've drowned surfing a dangerous wave called the "Wedge" in Newport Beach California. Drummer Chuy Vidales, Bassist Dustin Ericksen, Saxophonist Adrian Olmos and Vocalist Trey Campbell have now joined original Guitarist/Songwriter RAS to take the group to new heights.
QWIKSAND hit the road on a 35-city North American tour in Spring 2008 with a fresh new sound that was captured live in-studio this summer by engineer Brent Clawson. With crossover success over the past 3 years at (All Ages, Colleges, Festivals, Age 21+) venues across the western and midwest regions, QWIKSAND is now booking national tour dates registered with Pollstar. Previous singles One Arm Marsupial and Liquid Dream from the CD titled ”Liquid Dream” made Top100 for new alternative music for 28 weeks in a row on Clear Channel.com. Both tracks featured work with Grammy award-winning producer Wyn Davis (Sublime, No Doubt) and engineer Dave Collins (Ben Harper, Jack Johnson). A music video for Liquid Dream became a Top 2 rated Indie video featured on MTV2.com, and appeared in the international surf film release The Endless Journey Continues produced by Robert August (Star of Endless Summer) in theaters across Australia, Europe, Japan, North America and South America. The band's debut single Concrete Cowboy from the CD The Fellowship Of The Groove also rose nationwide into mainstream commercial US radio charts hitting 11 on Hot AC Top 40, 3 on Top 30 Indie, 55 on the Top 100 and 8 on the Up & Coming Top 40. QWIKSAND's music video for Concrete Cowboy reached over 12 million viewers worldwide on the Yahoo! Music Video Channel, iFilm, MSN Video Channel, NewBandTV, JustEnoughTV and French AAATV.
