RAPTURE 7:
The gospel group Rapture 7, was originally formed for the purpose of performing at a local food drive in Carbondale, Illinois. That initial appearance received such an overwhelming positive response from the community, leading to requests for performances at church functions and numerous other venues. Since that time, the musical ministry of Rapture 7 has grown in popularity and scope. The group garnered First Place in the nation-wide competition in Anderson, Indiana. The group's debut project entitled "Introducing Rapture" was released. Members were able to showcase their musical and song writing talent at the Chicago Association of Music Songwriters (CAMS), a national song writing contest, earning second place. Rapture 7 also received recognition as "Best Group" at the Illinois Quartet Convention Competition. This blessing prompted the recording of their second release "All Power", which featured the song " Things of This World". The corresponding video was featured on the The Bobby Jones Gospel Show on BET. The well received single was included on a CD distributed through the Chicago Association of Music Songwriters (CAMS). The increased recognition lead to Rapture 7 opening for The Williams Brothers, Commissioned featuring Fred Hammond and Marvin Sapp, Ethel Holloway, Ricky Dillard, Mighty Clouds of Joy, Take 6, Bobby Jones and New Life, as well as other national gospel artist. Due to their unique style, which includes R&B, Neo Soul, Jazz and traditional and contemporary influence, Rapture 7 has successfully ventured into the secular music arena as well. Remaking the Earth Wind and Fire classic "Keep Your Head to the Sky" which was produced in Boston Massachusettes by producer Gregory McPherson (producer for New Kids on the Block with Maurice Starr). Rapture 7 was recongnized at the Eat'm conference in Las Vegas, NV held at the Mirage. While in Las Vegas, they performed and received a standing ovation at the legendary Desert INN!, and caught the attentions of producer Narada Michael Walden (producer behind the Bodyguard Soundtrack and Aretha Franklins "Freeway of Love", Winans Phase II and the Temptations Rising Sun). Rapture 7's self produced project titled N-Your Love captured the attention of Parliament Entertainment Records CEO Ben Weisman, who now represents the group. Rapture 7 takes the message that they seek to communicate with their audiences. Their sincere desire to share their faith and positive, uplifting attitude motivates the group to use not only their musical blessings, but other avenues for this purpose as well. In essence, remaining true to their beliefs, Rapture 7 insists on giving back to the community that has provided them with their fellow man through what they love doing the most...making music for the soul.
