After Rodney proved to the world that his writing skills were as competitive as they come, along with a killer live show, Rodney accumulated support from a lineup of artists such as, Robert Earl Keen, Jason Boland and The Stragglers, The Bellamy Brothers and Jason Allen who all had Rodney share a live show with them. This proved to be disappointment for the headliners of the evening when many in the crowd expressed how much they were impressed with the opening band rather than the so called "main attrraction". But, with an allstar band that includes Jason Kennedy on drums, Ricky Roach on bass guitar, Cisco Mirabent on lead guitar, Chad Corsey on the fiddle, and singer-songwriter Jena Walker sharing vocals and rythm guitar, Texas should be prepared for a no nonsense show that gets down to pure Texas music bussiness!!!

The epitome of Texas Country Music, Rodney Whatley is a true back-woods boy who was raised riding horses, fishing, hunting and playing music. straight out of "Music City Texas", Rodney is following in the footsteps of a tremendous array of artists who all drank the same water such as the father of ragtime, Scott Joplin, famous blues artist, T. Bone Walker, former musician on The Gene Autry Show, Fred S. Martin, an the Multi-talented drummer fom The Eagles, Don Henley. Rodney taught himself to play the guitar at age eight and was perfoming for audiences all around Texas at about age ten.
Into his teens, when he wasn't competing in Rodeos, Rodney began Writing songs that captured the attention of some of the toughest critics in the industrty. His debut album " Country Ways" presents a mixture that only a true texan can provide: a hint of bluegrass, a dash of southern rock, and topped with a great Texas country sound. Throw in his immense writing skills to the mix and it's obvious that Rodney has been drinking fom the same tap of all the greats before him.
