This is my *first* YouTube video - taken at the Wesak International Film Festival 2008 in Malaysia! I normally perform seated, so this is a bit unusual. But yay!
I used to be rather sure about what my music was all about. But not so much anymore. The first album sort of arose after encounters with my teacher and a bad heartbreak. And a sense that the universe would come through. The second album was recorded with slightly less magic, but with more attention and care. It arose out of love and frustration. I have been doing dharma music basically full-time for over three years now, which is terrifying and yet makes me smile.
This is a video from the Tricycle Magazine site that uses my song "Dolma". You can't hear the music all that well, but I love the footage...totally reminds me of beloved scary India!
In June I left for my first international tour - three weeks in Malaysia, beginning with opening the Wesak International Film Festival (www.wiff.org.my), which was *very* exciting and also a bit Exhausting. It was a pretty amazing time.
I've just finished a three week retreat out at Shambhala Mountain Center and am now about to head home to CT, flush with memories of my brilliant teacher and king: Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. Two concerts here in Colorado and then home to the recording studio for some re-recording of 'Bloom' and new recording....eep!
But, this is (it really is folks), my primary livelihood, so if you enjoy what you hear, please do buy the album and spread the word. If you are a writer - write about the music!
