NEW TO OUR ONLINE STORE: (Woodsist 013 - Meneguar "The In Hour" LP)
Easily one of the best "indie" bands going today, MENEGUAR are one of the only bands everyone working for this label can agree undeniably rules. Their new album The In Hour is definitely different than their previous releases, most notably more lo-fi and drugged out. But the catchyness is still there in glorious abundance, even if this whole endeavor is a bit darker and noisier than prior releases. Change is a good thing though, don't be afraid, as MENEGUAR continue to prove that they are absolutely unfuckwithable. 100% band made too (self-recorded, in-house artwork, bandmember-released), this is the epitome of DIY, and we applaud the hell out of them for this. Here's their own accurate description for this crucial album:
"Switching instruments and experimenting with recording techniques, Meneguar has cooked up a totally unique(and surprising) record. The In Hour channels the spontaneity and aesthetics of Swell Maps, the pop hooks of the Zombies, and lyrical collage of Guided By Voices. Everything was home recorded at their little Xanadu in Brooklyn, Rear House, home base to the Woodsist label and the changing roster of Meneguar's alter egos(Woods, Shepherds). Only six months since their last record, The In Hour represents a serious departure that still holds true to the band's undeniable pop sensibility." This comes in a full-color jacket and is on limited (to 980) black vinyl. One corner on each jacket we got is slightly bent, not terrible but worth mentioning. Regardless, this is highly recommended! p.s. Two of our dogs can be seen in the band-made (of course) music video they put together for on of the songs on this album.
