Los Angeles spoken word artist Mary L. Carter, combines live music, performance art, and poetry, with raw emotion and urban inspired themes into a unique and diverse event, SPIT. SPIT will be an event showcasing the talents of artists from Vegas and around the world.
Mary L. Carter began her artistic career in poetry at the age of twelve, mentored by Tony award winning spoken word artist Poetri. Mary made her stage debut in 2001 at Da Poetry lounge in Los Angeles under the guidance of Poetri who is best known for His weekly event Spoken Funk, the hit TV Show Black and White, as well as numerous celebrity appearances on HBO's Def Poetry Jam produced by music industry legend Russell Simmons. Withover 12 years of experience in Entertainment, Hosting, and Television expertise, Mary has put together both a successful production team, and powerful event. It all started with the idea Poetry's too live, too diverse, each syllable - unsellable, every ephemerical verse being too fierce to be coerced … Today, this right is all that's left Tongue slamming, spinning, tables turning, and France cannot be left for deaf.
So with a camera in hand, we've taken the country by storm videalistic is the spirit, originality the norm. We started out with 50 vids, now we are up to 360, from Montreal down to Marseille, from Pointe-à-Pitre to Gai Paree.
Take any door and come on in. Be curious, you will be served : 360 clips around our way, 360 clicks around the word …
I’m playing at Jillians on Friday night (may 16th). It would be awesome if you came and watched me sing songs and hungout with me. I also have to sell a bunch of tickets… so if you know you would like to go… please let me know. I’d be more than happy to get a ticket to you. Yay.
