a mix a of a lot of the music I've grown up with. I think it also represents the people I grew up with too. first my dad, who has had the biggest influence on my music. He turned me on to jazz, funk, bossanova and flamenco. plus he's been writing songs since before i was born. next I'd have to say my sister helen was a big influence. Being that she's my older sister, I naturally thought she was cool. So when I was growing up, she listened to alternative, rock, grunge and such. Plus she introduced me to Sublime. enough said... then thrugh my mom... lots of latin stlye, disco early electronic dance music. actually... I think she made me listen to music I didn't like so much, cause I was so little I couldn't appreciate certain kinds of music. Up until now. I'm a little older and can relate more to salsa music bolero type stuff. lately listening to my friend richie's band, and just living in south america has opened my heart to all types of new sounds. Though I'm finding it excedingly difficult to find bandmates that play my style of music. so if anyone wants to play my song with me... I have big plans for it, and you never know. so... what does my music sound like?.... I would say it varies from song to song. but mosly I enjoy using beautiful sounding jazz chords in a very simple way... I like to mix things. like end of the road for example. I consider that to be rocksanova. Shatterbox blues is like a dark reggea, blues, electronic type song. The bottom line is I guess mostly I write about love... about myself and how I wish I could just be better than what I am. Hopefully you guys can relate to my songs. and like I said... you never know... you never know where your music can take you... you just gotta try.... Thanx for listening, Steve!
I'm at home when I'm playing my guitar. It makes me feel like not such a loser, cause all my life I've been searching for something to help me fill this empty heart of mine. Thank god for music... Thank god for love! Hope you enjoy it. It's a piece of me I gladly give to you. The only part that makes sense. I'm just like you.. Looking for that piece that's missing. I'll never let go, or give up... Holding on is what I'm best at, cause I'm just like you... in search of some meaning. Always looking for that missing piece. That's why I write songs. To find some meaning in it all... I'll never stop. So you might as well act like you're into it... or else I'll have to play it twice!
