BIO:

Artist, composer, arranger, producer, multi-instrumentalist, entrepreneur and Post Millennium Rocker. SANANDA MAITREYA was born in New York U.S.A. on March 15th 1962. He plays the four basic instruments of Rock: drums, bass, guitar and keyboards; as well as a few others instruments besides and he can never remember a time when music wasn't playing in his head. From the beginning of his professional career he has personally written arranged and produced all his music and has also collaborated with other top artists and producers. He was and remains a fan of all kinds of music and is committed to completing his own unique vision of what music can be as filtered through his own set of circumstances and the truth of his own nature. In his writings and blog www.SanandaMaitreya.com/writings he often cites the many diverse and wonderful artists that have helped to shape his passion for music and continue to inspire. He presents his music as POST MILLENNIUM ROCK, its main elements are heart and soul, its nature is passion, courage and curiosity and it acknowledges no rules but the goal to lead the listener back to his heart, to provoke his mind and re-approach him to his true feelings. He says that he had his light switched on at the age of 2 by the music of the Beatles and has been a fool for music ever since. "I have suffered music and she has suffered me and there is no doubt that she has seen my willingness to bear her love even in the darkest hours and because of that we have earned one another's trust and our bond is close and deep. I would die for the music and in fact already have". Sananda began his career as Terence Trent D’Arby, he became Sananda Maitreya after a series of dreams in 1995 at the age of 33. His debut album: “Introducing the Hardline According to TTD” gave him international fame and made Sananda win a Grammy Award on March 1988 as Best R&B Vocal Performance, Male. The artist’s next studio projects confirmed his talent as a songwriter and as a unique performer: “Neither Fish Nor Flesh” released in 1989, “Symphony or Damn” in 1993, “Vibrator” released in 1995. In year 2000 his fifth album “WildCard!” is ready and will mark his new life as an independent artist. Sananda has been an internet presence since the late ‘90s and was one of the first major artists to add credibility to the current explosion and acceptance of the internet music communication and Mp3. His model of communication and trading has been quietly adopted by many individual artists, new and established, as well as some labels themselves. He believed all along that the internet would be his path to true musical freedom, without in his words, “the usual gains and compromises”. His vision of Post Millennium Rock is music free of restrictions and marketing pressures. All his productions are available at the official website: www.SanandaMaitreya.com. Since the ‘90s Sananda also wrote and performed several sound-tracks for Hollywood films such as: “Beverly Hills Cop III; Pret-A-Porter; The Promised Land; The Fan; Shake, Rattle & Roll; Frankie & Johnny; Knocked Up; Funny People; Up In the Air” etc. After the studio project WildCard! he released with his label Treehouse Publishing the double CD “Angels & Vampires” in 2006/07, “Nigor Mortis” in 2009 and “The Sphinx” in 2010 which is currently in production, in all those albums Sananda played all instruments and all songs are written, produced, arranged and performed by the artist. “The Sphinx” first 3 chapters are already available at www.Zooathalon.com, as with past independent projects, more chapters will follow in the course of the year before completion of the project and its release also in CD format. In the last three years, Sananda also released exclusively online 3 Live Albums “Influenza in Firenze”, “Camels at the Crossroads” and “Lovers & Fighters”, this is the result of several live tours and European concerts with his Live Band: ‘The Nudge Nudge’: Nik ‘The Sticks’ Taccori at drums and Enea ‘Il Conte’ Bardi at bass, 2 Italian musicians, his 2 men orchestra.
