Asperger's Syndrome, Autism, Politics, Middle Eastern feminism, law, international affairs, malaria in Africa, history of the Rwandan Genocide, treatment of mentally retarded in the US and abroad
Music
I know everyone says they like everything, but I kind of do. If I had to pick my tops as far as quality: early 90's hip hop, Ska, jazz, classical, opera, and classic rock. I also like my share of crappy music: EMO, mainstream pop and hip hop garbage . . . the occasional country song. But if in the car it's usually talk radio (NPR, C-SPAN, or Air America)
Movies
Fight Club, Princess Bride, Finding Nemo, I am Sam, Pirates of the Caribbean, Team America, Hotel Rwanda, Good Morning Vietnam, A Christmas Story, Pleasantville, anything with Vince Vaughn (specifically Wedding Crashers), Pans Labyrinth, House of D
Television
The West Wing, The Daily Show, The Simpsons, Family Guy, House, Scrubs, The Office, and (regretfully) The Girls Next Door. I also love I Shouldn't be Alive and Man vs Wild on the Discovery channel haha. It's so bad but oh so good! I have also developed a minor obsession with HGTV.
Books
House of the Spirits, Princess, I Wish To Inform You That Tomorrow We Will Be Killed With Our Families, They Poured Fire On Us From The Sky, Handmaid's Tale, The World According to Garp, Crime and Punishment, Daily Show with Jon Stewart presents America . . . the list goes on forever
Heroes
Immaculee . . . she is a friend of mine who survived the genocide in Rwanda. She lost everyone close to her to senseless violence and yet she carries no hate. She amazes me every day.

About me: Here is the summary:
I'm a mommy!
I have finished my masters degree at American University in Public Policy. I'll start my PhD in Psychology in the Fall. I have been married for almost three years (September 10th 2005). I was a teacher in a school for special ed kids for the past 2 years. I worked with aggressive boys with Asperger's and I loved it! I still substitute teach there but now primarily work for myself as an ABA therapist with kids with Asperger's and Autism. It is more money and less hours but more intense. I am really enjoying it though. Before that, I was a counselor in group home for aggressive, mentally retarded and autistic adults in NY. I work with a registered CBO with which I traveled to Ghana two summers during which time we built an AIDS treatment/women’s education center. I ran a volunteer program summer 2005 to do malaria awareness education as part of the organization in Ghana and it was great! I was a volunteer crisis counselor in NY. Tom teaches 11th grade English in South East DC.
Tom and I have spend a lot of time traveling and volunteering in the developing world. We have volunteered and/or visited Mexico, Hondorus, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Panama, Egypt, Rwanda, India, Tanzania, Nepal, and have spent 3 summers in Ghana. We just got back from a trip to Tokyo, Vietnam, and Cambodia. I wrote a book about traveling and volunteering that is self-published online.
We moved to DC in August 2006 and bought a condo in NE. We just bought a real-life grown-up house near the condo and moved in last October. Come visit!

HEY SIS!!! LOOK AT ELLA SOOO CUTE.. I THINK SHE LOOKS LIKE U LOL THE VERY FIRST PIC I THOUGH DEAD ON TOM BUT MAN IT MAKES ME SOOOO EXCITED TO HAVE MY SON. I CANT WAIT TO SEE U GUYS.... WELL KIT
he might have a little gastro issue....it might be his food, or hairballs. I'd give him a bath (if possible) and maybe get him on a hairball reducing food for indoor cats....also some cat grass might help his diet. Or, he might just be eating too much. My cats do that now and then. It's harder to regulate feeding times when you hae 4, but I notice that when they stuff themselves too much, the barfing and lovely litter box presents become much more frequent.
babaygaga. com has the development ones specifically for babies. I had them when I was pregnant. The countdowns I have on there now you can just click on and it will take you to the website. Then click on myspace gadgets or whatever and you'll see them:-)

Not sure if you have heard yet or not but Mervyns has filed papereork to file for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy and will be closing all of its stores starting in November. The liquidation process will go through the end of the year. What this means for me? I will remain on board til the end of the year, and then be looking for a new job. In the interim, I am considering moving back to Modesto so I can be closer to friends and family.
