Bound by their passion for "true rock", Second Pass are a high-energy Toronto-based band who draw musical inspiration from the fathers of heavy rock and grunge. Blending driving rhythms, syrupy melodies, and bombastic guitars, Second Pass generates an enveloping sound.
In 2008, Second Pass released their foundational EP, One. The release of the band's first EP, provides an insight into the exciting musical journey that lies ahead for Second Pass and its fans. One was tracked at Q music in Toronto, produced by Topher Stott mixed by Gary Honess and Engineered by Bob Sienoi. There have been hundreds of songs downloaded globally for free here at myspace.com/secondpass as well as paid downloads from iTunes, Amazon and eMusic.
Second Pass has played countless shows in the Toronto area, including The Rivoli, Lee's Palace, Rock and Roll Heaven, The Velvet Underground, Jeff Healey's Roadhouse, The Reverb, and larger venues such as the Steamwhistle Brewery oh and some real shit-holes as well.
Hard edged riff-rock tunes hearken back to the band's influences. From the syrupy desert groove of You're a Criminal, to the straight forward, hard-rocking approach of The Universe, the band is carving a path that is refreshingly all about the music. The haunting purity to the acoustic Coward, shows a different side of the band, but expresses the same theme of a dissatisfaction in paths chosen and a desire to "make things right". Much attention has already found the band due to the release of the cerebral Dear Syd, which challenges the listener to consider a cathartic letter of a well-known rocker to his recently deceased bandmate.
Second Pass are eagerly awaiting a return back to the studio with the goal of having some new tunes ready for release in the Winter.
In a music world filled with formulaic pop-rock, SECOND PASS stands out as a band committed to exploring the entire dynamic range. Its music stands alone and the rich tones and textures, of their many gripping tunes, envelope listeners and grab them whole. Second Pass is unsigned and independent. EP One is distributed via Tunecore.

That was a great set at Clintons. A supercharged sound that combines a rock attitude with that energy-fueled spirit. This is a breakneck, heavy sound that gives a nod to classic rock and roll, admirable, anthemic. Keep to your musical vision.
