Interests

  • General

Prudence is an old maid courted by incapacity. -William S. Burroughs

Punk rock hippie soul to the end. A staunch refusal to betray NorCal.

My family & friends, my cats, my rats, our tortoises, our tarantula Vivie. Reading, writing, art, crafting, de/reconstructing clothing, !music! Making espresso drinks. Gardening and nature. Tattoo art. Carnival side shows. Lenore. Voodoo dolls. Psychology. Metaphysics, meditation, spirituality. Reading well thought out blogs. A lone violin on a cold night.
  • Music

Music makes life worth living and has brought me through the tough times, music reminds me that there's something greater than the individual. The list to follow is by no means complete, but from Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, to Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan and Tony Bennett, Neil Young, The Doors, Hank Williams and Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, the Blues and all those grand old black men who were such magnificent souls that they gave us their music. Iggy Pop, Tom Waits, Nico, the Sex Pistols, The Ramones - esp Dee Dee, The Velvet Underground, Nick Cage, Radiohead, Lou Reed, Jane's Addiction, classic rock - *FREEBIRD!*...Tom Petty, The Eagles, Pink Floyd, Springsteen, Skynyrd, my woman Janis, Jimi, U2, Blondie...does anybody admit they like to hear a Carpenter's tune now & then? Zeppelin. Jacob Golden is BRILLIANTLY talented and needs to be very famous.
  • Movies

“It's the movies that have really been running things in America ever since they were invented. They show you what to do, how to do it, when to do it, how to feel about it, and how to look how you feel about it.” -Andy Warhol
  • Television

Nope, not really. Very, very seldom and even less these days.
  • Books

Exceedingly well-written and clever ones. I believe John Steinbeck's The Grapes Of Wrath is the greatest novel ever written because it calls us to awaken our awareness. Tennessee Williams, Arthur Miller, I enjoy Alice Hoffman's magical playfulness. Kerouac's explosive iconoclastic BAM-BAM-BAM! Dee Dee Ramone's The Chelsea Horror Hotel - love it and we all have to do the crewka-crewka now and then? My favorite book of all time remains Little Women, by Louisa May Alcott, which I read for the first time when I was eight years old and have re-read at least twenty-five times since.
  • Heroes

The great and brilliant and those of us who make it through day-to-day life. My children. All children. Animals. Artists, writers, musicians because they have Greatness thrust upon them and carry a magnificent responsibility for all of us. Researchers who devote their quiet, nerdy lives to helping all of us live better lives. People who have patience with children and animals - and patience with other people. My co-workers at Metro because we're there out of love for an idyll . Those who take time to listen, really listen, because every one of us has an important story to tell.
