You
may have been ganked by our 3yr 4yr old!
This
is Charisma.
Our daughter
is 3 years old 4 years old and she has been playing Blizzard Entertainment's hugely
popular MMO, World
of Warcraft since she was 1½ years old!
Clearing
monsters to swipe a treasure chest, PvP battlegrounds, and dungeon grouping
are all taken in stride as Charisma (aka: "Dangerboy") handles
her oversized mouse and keyboard with professional gamer dexterity and
skill.
At 12 months
old, Charisma showed a great deal of interest in what Mommy and Papi were doing on the PC. When she starting navigating
through Control Panel and Device Manager and changing settings, we built
her a computer of her own.
Initially,
she began playing WoW and doing simple actions like jumping and chasing
bunnies, but she quickly learned the more advanced functions of the game
and graduated into teamplay, looking for random people to help, and exploring
the world. It became evident the newbie towns were growing too small too
fast, and Charisma's limited online playtime had only allowed her to level
her character to 20 by herself. We transferred one of our pre-existing
level 60 Alliance Rogues over to her account, and her virtual world opened
up wide. She ran, rode, and flew anywhere she could looking for new places
to explore and learning each zone's nuances. We often include her in questing
as a family and we group with her often in dungeon instances where she
learns how to play a role in a team and not to run ahead blindly around
corners.
We have found
World of Warcraft to be a great incentive for our daughter to learn her
way around the keyboard, where she is also learning her ABC's and 123's.
We prefer to let her enjoy an interactive form of entertainment in moderation
as opposed to vegetating in front of the TV. Charisma is allowed to play
in 30-60 minute intervals a few days a week and gets quite a bit of outdoor
time. She also learns important lessons like showing random acts of kindness
by helping another player in need, teamplay, and of course, faceplanting
the enemy.
At 3 years
old, Charisma enjoys chasing down 'the Ugly People' (Horde) while squealing,
"Get da bad guy! get da bad guy!"
What some other players had to say:
"That's adorable. The first thing that popped into my mind was, 'I KNEW that was a 4-year-old on vent in that pug!'" -Lifetaker (Tichondrius)
"That is too cute. Grats :)" -Evilrob (Burning Blade)
"This is really a hidden conspiracy to start a day care system of American toddler gold farmers!! I think you could franchise this, LOL!" -Kringe (Stormreaver)
"That sounds like alot of fun!" -Zah (Zuluhead)
"That's cute. I'm starting to teach my 8 year old brother to play but he isnt all that good yet. When he is good enough, I'm going to teach him how to grind gold for my epic flying mount." -Volcorn (Lothar)
"What an amazing way to educate your child in practicality, tactics, logic, and reasoning (if this were actually true). If it is, O_O I want to see it on the news. Edit: Ok I just read the website. You have GOT to be kidding me. This is phenomenal." -Acturas (Balnazzar)
"Thats cool. -Atah (Muradin)
"Ouch, that's awesome." Taemojitsu (Stormreaver)
"Okay, I think your 3 year old is just awesome, and this entire thread is hilarious. I've tried to get my sister to pvp grind for me a bit but she wants cash. And if I'm paying money I'd rather pay online lol." -Ishammael (Anetheron)
"This made me laugh! Very good post overall." -Koiron (Dentarg)
"I think it's cute that your daughter plays so early. My son was born recently and is only a couple of weeks old. My wife and I play WoW all the time and were wondering how long it would be before he could play. I said 5 years, but she thinks it not that soon. I found it rather nice to hear that he will be joining us at such an early age." -Jerks (Haomarush)
"Your kid should be welcome to replace me for our next few Karazhan raids. Not sure who would notice the difference." -Poe (Illidan)
Long time no speak! I am never on here anymore really, I'm on facebook now. I don't play uo anymore either lol. Just been really busy, but miss chatting with you! Have any messengers you use? Would love to talk sometime. Message me here or find me on facebook or something. Hopefully I'll get it eventually. Hope you are good hun! - Kat xoxo
Aww, I miss Jakooki but I understand...I look forward to meeting your Hunter :-)...AQV has changed, lost alot of people, even Liandan....trying to rebuild, but getting nowhere at the moment :-(
Howz it going? You should jump on over to facebook. There is a lot of people over there that you'd know from highschool. I think you were tagged over there from a pre-k picture? but i can't find it now.
We are not terrible active there but I still play here and there. Everyone is kind of dormant until the new expansion comes out. Same with Kravin and Zenegata. They are about to have a new baby so they are taking a break until the expansion. I am currently working on getting my druid to 70 right now. I have my priest and hunter to 70. Once I get him to 70 I probably will work on a warrior next. I just have not decided yet. =) How's life...? I still dig your pic.
That is a great thought. Bring the daughter into WOW and then maybe that will hook my wife into the game. BRILLIANT! We are doing pretty good. I hate this cold weather coming but this weekend is suppose to be in the 70s so that should be awesome. Getting some WOW and Halo guys to Chuck E Cheese this weekend so it should be a blast to watch the kiddos all play together. How is your fam doing?
Hey Brotha Man! Just survived Halloween with my Snow White girl. I will send ya some pics when I get them. She is funny. Just doing the work, fam things. Trying to squeeze in some Halo 3 and WOW when I can. How are things with you?
Superman! What's going on in your world? Man, work is insane right now and things are always crazy. My little girl still keeps me laughing. You playing on Frost again?
Got 70 and loving it. Took me a while to get my flying mount and took a lone from Zenegata to finally get it. So now I am working on my Shadow Armor. Good times dude. Glad things are settling down for you
Hah! Is that site still up? Funny ... WBM ftw! The Real '98 WBM, with the DiSangue sisters et al. Not the lame ass one still on Napa with only one member who is only keeping WBM to alleviate his possible guilt over the shady stealing of a certain floating in the water house I placed on Mag Beach years back. I even forgot his name, but as I recall, he sucked and was a sub-human liar. Why do I still pay for that game again? I should log in for giggles.
Hey dude, I hope things are going good for you. Just throught I would drop in and say HI... I like your song. It sounds like an AWESOME Qzar song. Qzar = Lazer Tag. Good times! Peace Out!
