Influences
I am inspired by so many artists but my main influences are...
JEWEL
I could listen to any song by Jewel especially the ones that are unreleased and not on her albums. She is probably my biggest influence lyrically and vocally. And I love how she went against the grain to do her own style and is extremely spiritual. I don't think that people should criticize her last album 0304 simply because it is not folk. What is the point of being a musical artist if we can't have diversity and self-expression? She should be allowed to have an album where you just have fun. Musically it's so lighthearted and more mainstream but lyrically its still very poignant and makes you think....
LEA SALONGA
Lea Salonga was my first idol that I probably started following her career in High School when I heard her sing in Les Miserables. She has the most beautiful voice in the world and is physically so beautiful. Her spirit is breathtaking and her passion onstage when she's acting or singing makes me feel so connected to her ideals and emotions....
SARAH BRIGHTMAN
Sarah Brightman's voice is off the charts and I wish to one day have one tenth of her talent. I have never heard a voice so extremely crystilline with her gorgeous range of octaves. I am very happy with how she captured Christine from Phantom of the Opera and conveyed her story of hypnotized love.
BETHANY JOY LENZ
I first heard her music on one of my favorite shows "One Tree Hill" and she has a great sound. But when I listened to all of her songs, I really gained an intense admiration for her. Her songs are so heartfelt and genuine, such a honest rawness to them. I especially love the songs people have rarely heard like "Las Palmas" and the ones that are non-commercial and different.
I have just discovered this amazing band - who plays the most beautiful spiritual music with the most beautifully varied vocal artists - together it is a gorgeous universe of love. Please listen to their music. They are SleepThief. Thank you!
This is a wonderful singer/songwriter... espeically her song "Complete" - it's so beautiful... please give her a listen! Thanks :)
This is Ben Jelen... he's amazing and I really love his song "Come On" - that's fabulous... so please listen to him. It's so passionate and I love his voice. Beautiful work.

I named my first album, J'aime because it's a play on words. My real name is Jaime and the word "J'aime" means "I love" in french - and that's what I do in this album... I love.
All of my songs are about love, either love that I've observed other people feel or love that I've experienced myself. It's hard to say exactly what defines my style because I am gravitated towards all genres... and that makes it hard for record labels to squeeze me into one particular category. I love writing songs of every type - country, pop, alternative, broadway, r and b, and celtic, but I think the style that captivates me the most as an artist is ambient adult contemporary. I love those ballads where you can just sing your heart out - anything passionate and intense - that also have a spiritual or elemental undertone.
I hope my music inspires you to take risks despite your fear, to realize that you can achieve anything you put your mind to, to win back the one you love, to pursue what makes you happy, to convince you to think more with your intuition and to not listen to the negativity of others. I hope my music makes you fight for love - I feel that love is the most beautiful thing anyone can ever experience and I hope that if you are lucky enough to find your soulmate and they are worthy of you by treating you with respect, that you hold onto them with all your heart...
J'aime.........

Songs on my album
1.) WHAT YOUR EYES TELL ME
"What Your Eyes Tell Me" is the first song I recorded in the studio - it was about the pain that came from falling in love with someone I worked with and having to see them all the time. Besides giving me pure emotional release, this song also let me express my helplessness towards a man who wanted to be with me but didn't let himself.
2.) DON'T LET ME DREAM
"Don't Let Me Dream" is a song I wrote about my first love. I would dream of him once a month for eight years and they were so real that I would wake up in tears because they were over.
3.) BAD BAD BOYS
"Bad Bad Boys" is a song that I love to sing because it is so fun and lighthearted... and it's cool to make fun of myself sometimes lol. I just gotta laugh at my own naivite and hopefully girls can learn from this and not make my mistakes.
4.) TODAY
"Today" is a song that captures the innocence of a childs first crush and the excitement and confidence that children can feel before they are jaded by adults and broken hearts. I feel like I channelled this from two child angels, because it's written from the point of view of an 8 year old :)
5.) BEYOND THE SUNRISE
This song is very sentimental to me. I wrote this as a special christmas present to a man who had become very epic to me. A lot of the songs on this album are about him, and his significance in my life. I guess you would say that he has become a quite legendary muse for me. This song was written during a sad night, where I wanted him to come back to me and you will hear my longing.
6.) A CHALICE
The song "A Chalice" was a song I wrote when I thought that I was reuniting with the one I love, only to realize that I couldn't fool myself anymore. As much as I hoped he was the one, I had to accept that he did not love me and did not want to be with me. So I wrote this song to comfort myself - creating an epic fantasy of what I wished would come to pass. As you listen to "A Chalice" - you will see my tale unfold.
7.) KEEP KISSING ME, BABY
"Keep Kissing Me, Baby" has been re-written recently. Originally, it was a song that I wrote based upon a fantasy of mine. I loved someone very much and just wanted one last night with them - it represents everyone that has ever wanted to prolong the inevitable and stay with someone because you can't let go. Then I met someone who totally impacted my life and I rewrote this song about our love. It's the most perfect manifestation. And I still want one more night :)
8.) DISAPPEARING ACT
"Disappearing Act" was written in witty frustration about a man who pursues you most arduously but then disappears without a trace - it's for all women who have ever experienced a man who just disappears on you!
9.) THE MYTH IN MY MIND
"The Myth In My Mind" was originally entitled "Blind" - I wrote this when I was going through a time where I felt very blinded by a past love. I couldn't see the man in front of me because I couldn't get over being blinded by another. It was difficult to move on and transfer my heart to this new man because I just couldn't stop my heart from aching over the one who didn't want to be with me. Originally this song was written as a more somber frustrated song, but as I have grown in my thoughts - the song has grown with me, transforming into a more optimistic song, where even though she is still despairing, she is not stuck. I didn't want to write that she can't get over something or that she is blind, I don't want to manifest those things anymore. Now, I have come into a point in my journey where I want my songs to instill more hope than pessimism. So it's altered from it's original course. I think you will all enjoy it much better this way, and hopefully this will heal you more than it would have before. I want to create open doors.
10.) SUICIDE
"Suicide" is a song that has been most disturbing to me, because this was written about my best friend. It has been such a struggle watching her spiral in her thoughts, emotions, actions, and motivations. I used to think that the relationship she is in is what was killing her - but I soon realized that it was never him that was destroying her, it was her own actions because she didn't want to help herself. It was hard for me to accept that she wants to be miserable. I hope that soon she realizes this and that she takes control of her life. I feel like she doesn't want to accept the fact that the only one who can save her is her and that she doesn't want to take responsiblity for her choices because she just wants to be taken care of. I pray that she will hear this song and it will make a difference in her life, I hope that when she hears this, that she will understand that she can help herself, that she doesn't have to go down the path she has been going down, and that she can be like the butterfly and that she's only in a temporary chrysalis. I pray that when she hears this that she won't be insulted or saddened but realize that I wrote this to speak as one voice, a voice that represents all of her family and friends who collectively agree - that she hears all of the love that we all constantly feel for her. She has been a big believer of interventions - well, this is coming from all of us as her intervention.
11.) FORGIVE
"Forgive" is an interlude that really represents an experience that I have recently had involving love, someone I have loved for a long time. It was humbling to speak to someone who told me how erratically I had acted during the heights of my romantic emotions. For a long time, it was impossible to see his point of view. Alot of areas had to be healed in both of us because of this union and hopefully this explains the beautiful exchange of forgiveness that occurred.
12.) THE LANGUAGE OF THE SOUL
"The Language of the Soul" is probably one of the most beautiful love songs I have ever written so far. This song is definately one of the dreamiest and most spiritual songs I have ever written. It's difficult for me to write happy songs because I don't want them to sound cliche and they always seem to be not as intense as I'd like them to be. But I've finally come into a phase of my life where I can understand how to be happy and the emotion of that can be even more powerful than the emotion of sadness. The spiritual connection of infatuation can be so transcendent...
13.) J'AIME
"J'aime" is the main song on my album. It's basically represents everything that I am, feel, breathe, think, and say... it's the song that immortalizes the faith in humanity that glows in my heart, the love I hold, the belief that everyone on this earth deserves love, inner peace, understanding, compassion, and joy. This song tells why this is so...
14.) MANIFESTATIONS
"Manifestations" is a song that I've written about manifesting my true love and this song is very special to me because all of my best friends agreed to sing on this with me. I am very happy because I love feeling the energy of the sisterhood that this song embraces. It is very intricate and elaborate, very empowering and pure. When you hear this song, you can sing along to it and visualize all of the special things you would like to bring into your life.
ANGELS AND MISTLETOE - (Not on this album)
I love Christmas - but I've never been a fan of christmas carols - so when I was approached to do a Christmas song, I hesitated because I've never wanted to create a song that was generic and cliche. However, this amazing producer John Fitzpatrick created a gorgeous instrumental which I could not turn down. Soon you will be able to experience Christmas in the style of John Fitzpatrick and Solaris... you will hear angels and feel the romance of a christmas fantasy. Special thanks to Todd Dalton of Sunflower Studios for blessing us with his magical melody and to Jim Wallman of Island City Studios for his engineering skills which saved the day. Enjoy!
