Somer has always loved to sing all types of music, although her favorites are R&B, Pop, Christian and Country.
In November 2006 and 2007, Somer was named the GCGMA "Female Vocalist of the Year" at the Annual GCGMA Awards, which qualified her for the National Competition where she would compete with the winners from other states across the country.
She has taken part in the National Level competition with "NACMAI" (North America Country Music Association International), in Pigeon Forge, TN. for the past two years in March 2007 and 2008, where she performed for judges and recieved top honors as "Vocalist of the Year" in 2007 and "Most Promising Vocalist of the Year" 2008. She also won awards in the Entertainer Catagory as well as CD/Album of the Year.
For most of the past year, Somer has been focused on school as well as over 30 performances throughout the Southeast including fundraisers, festivals, churches, and shows including a performance at The Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville and the Peach Drop at Underground Atlanta on New Years Eve. She sings the National Anthem on a regular basis at many local sports venues including a televised Georgia Tech Men's Basketball game on ESPN.
Most recently Somer was accepted into a prestigious Magnet Program and Center of Excellence in Performing Arts School in the Atlanta area. She is so excited to be starting her first year of High School with them in 2008.
Somer is currently working on a new Demo CD that will include several original songs, one of which she co-wrote with talented songwriter Lisa Torch. She is so excited to be spreading her wings and experiencing the art of songwriting.
She has been invited to sing at many upcoming events in the Southeast, so keep checking back to see where she will be performing next!
