Sonny Winberg’s music career began as a bet from co-workers to sing at a karaoke contest. He won that contest and hasn't looked back! He’s been known to sing alone on a stool in a local bar or with a full band across the ocean in Europe. Sonny’s performed at the Ernest Tubb Midnight Jamboree in Nashville, Branson Music Theaters, and in Texas Honky-Tonk’s. His performances at Midwest Country in Sandstone, MN have been televised nationwide on the RFD TV network. You may have caught Sonny performing at the MN State Fair as well as competing during the Fair’s talent contest. Winberg has been a performer at concerts, festivals, benefits, casinos, fairs, weddings, and street dances - along with every sized bar along the way!
Sonny placed in the Top 10 out of over 1300 entries of an online singing contest sponsored by Capitol Records Nashville! He has performed during the 2005 European Country Music Awards in Austria. Also awarded the MN Country Music Troubadour award in 2003. Sonny has performed with or opened for country music legends such as Tommy Horton, Bobby Bare, Gene Watson, Larry Sparks, Leroy Van Dyke, Hank Thompson’s Brazo’s Valley Band and Germany ’s favorite, Daniel T. Coates’ band.
Sonny originally hails from Siren, WI and has been living and working in the Twin Cities area for 8 years. He's a songwriter and self-taught guitar player. Anyone who hears Sonny is instantly a “fan”, not only for his beautiful baritone voice, but also for his charming personality that shines through during every performance.
Hey Sonny! Thanks much for the friend request bro! I'm just starting out and am real excited for the future, so I definitely appreciate the feedback and support! Thanks again for letting me share my music. Check back anytime! Have a great week man!
Hey Sonny--Thanks for the message! Great to finally meet you the other night! Hopefully I'll be able to catch one of your shows sometime soon--Good luck with the giggin'!
I will do my best for the VFW in May. I do not really have any country loving friends. In fact I may end up out alone this friday to see my friend Darrins country band, but that is ok, I love my country. See you soon. Noele
YUP...still in Webster. And I am somewhat fascinated by all the semi-famous people who have come out of Webster lately...you, Jarrod Washburn, Kristia Bonita...it's been fun keeping up with all of you. I will have to get somewhere to see you perform sometime. For someone who didn't know he could sing, you have certainly made a name for yourself! LOL Take care!
It was nice to see you and Becky again at Xcel! We had a blast playing, it was definitely worth the hassle.
It would be great to Jam with you anytime! I'll keep my eye on your schedule and maybe I can come out and see you play again, or give me a call if you're in the neighborhood, my number is on my card.
haha well that was a quicker reply then I had planned :D
I'm doing good, still trying to get my voice heard. Haven't really had anything big happen, been to karaoke bars here and there but haha hey you gotta start somewhere!
State fair was good, exhausting after the talent contest but it was all good fun.
So hows the career commin?? Any more big openings for the record deals???
